Richard Kerby, Senior Inter Regional Adviser, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs
The 2014 UN e-Government Survey assesses Government's ability to provide its citizens with online content and services and their ability to communicate in a two-way fashion with their citizens.  It also looks on how government are introducing the latest trends on e-government, such as: open data, social media, citizen engagement and integrated e/m services.
9:30 am - 10:10 amINFORMATION SECURITY: ARE WE ADAPTABLE ENOUGH?
THE GREAT ROOM IV
Tony Krzyzewski, Chief Technology Officer, Kaon Security & Protocol Policy Systems Ltd

In the 19 years since Tony Krzyzewski first spoke at an ALGIM conference, technology, the use of information and the threats to the wellbeing of that information have changed dramatically.  But have we really changed the way that we think about protecting our information from the threat of loss, leakage or unauthorised modification?  Regular instances of information leakage, successful ransomware attacks and staff related security incidents in New Zealand over the past couple of years leads Tony to believe that we are not adapting to the new threat landscape quickly enough.

In this presentation Tony will be exploring the current state of security prevention and presenting a holistic approach to information security that may assist with helping you sleep well at night.  As usual, some attendees may find this session disturbing.

THE GREAT ROOM IV

Resiliency for any business is critical in today's environment where consumers have very high expectations for service delivery.  Local Government is no exception to this fundamental business requirement.  As all businesses become increasingly dependent on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a key business enabler, it is also becoming increasingly critical to ensure this capability is also highly resilient.  The trick is to ensure maximum ICT resiliency with minimum Total Cost of Ownership.  It is this structured approach to ICT resiliency that is the subject of this presentation.
