Student Track

The student registration fee is an all inclusive fee that allows students the ability to attend any of the events within the student track. Students have the ability to add additional events to their registration.

As a student professional in the dental hygiene profession, ADHA, as your national professional association, has developed resources to help you succeed as you finish school and transition into your career.

The Student track is only $145.

The Student track all inclusive pricing includes programming on Wednesday through Saturday.  As you complete your registration, be sure to select each event you will be attending.

Kick off the ADHA Annual Conference JAX-style! Join us for the annual ADHA/Young Dental Kickoff Evening Event on Wednesday, June 14, starting at 7:30 p.m. for a night of fun at the River City Brewing Company!

Take a complimentary water taxi from the Hyatt host hotel across the river to the outdoor lounge of Jacksonville’s premier riverfront hotspot. Enjoy a live band, drinks, food, karaoke and fabulous prizes with your peers while overlooking the St. John’s River and city skyline!

Alex Sheen




Alex Sheen is the founder of Because I said I Would, a social movement and nonprofit dedicated to bettering humanity through promises made and kept. Sparked by the loss of his father, Alex and his organization send "promise cards" to anyone anywhere in the world at no cost. Alex is someone who truly honors commitment. He once walked over 240 miles across the entire state of Ohio in 10 days to fulfill a promise. Since his father’s passing on September 4, 2012, because I said I would has sent over 4.47 million promise cards to over 15o countries. The promises written on these cards have made headlines around the world. His charitable projects and awareness campaigns have been featured on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, CBS Nightly News, Fox News, CNN, The Today Show, Good Morning America, NPR, The Los Angeles Times, and many other programs. Runners will begin near the Hyatt and the route will take them on a scenic tour of Jacksonville.  Once you’ve finished, relax at the After-Glow Party at the Jacksonville Landing! Keep in mind, runners must fundraise a minimum of $100 for complimentary access to the After Glow Party.

This will be a session on teamwork focusing on “bridging the gap” between new professionals and seasoned hygienists.

Much has been discussed about the differences in the generations.  At the core, we all have many of the same needs, but have been born into the world at different points in time, which shape and influence us.  Join this interactive course to understand more about the generations, including late-breaking trends that will help shape how you interact with colleagues and patients in the future.

You will learn to:

  • Understand the three stages of millennials and why their differences matter
  • Become more aware and emotionally intelligent to those around you
  • Understand communication styles that work best with different audiences

Research is a fundamental part of dental hygiene process of care. The National Dental Hygiene Research Agenda (NDHRA) is designed to focus dental hygiene research efforts and drive best practices by providing direction and evidence for clinicians. This program is for clinicians, students, educators and new researchers interested in promoting and supporting the growth of the profession, providing the best possible care to our patients, and robust education for our students. The course will highlight how the NDHRA can be used by all dental hygienists regardless of background and interest. Areas of discussion are:

  • Best practices for incorporating into dental hygiene education
  • Utilization by student dental hygienists at all levels
  • Mentoring junior and new researchers
  • Importance to clinicians and dental hygiene advocates

As someone new to the profession of dental hygiene, you may be wondering what options are available to you as you begin your career journey.  The good news is, there are no right or wrong answers on your career path; as long as you feel engaged and challenged, there are many different forms your career may take.  You have the power to be the architect of your own career, and this sessions will allow you to hear from others that have navigated career opportunities, twists and turns.

You will learn to:

  • Integrate best practices in career pathing into your 3 to 5 year career plan 
  • Understand what options exist for your dental hygiene career path
  • Begin to make a plan for your own career, and set yourself on a positive journey of growth

Olympic Medalist Laurie Hernandez was recently named a Crest® and Orgullosa ambassador by Procter & Gamble. She credits her hard work, leadership skills, and her never-give-up attitude to her Mom, who was in the U.S. Army Reserve while growing up. Laurie won the coveted mirror ball trophy on “Dancing with the Stars” season 23, and her first book titled I Got This: To Gold and Beyond chronicling her journey recently hit the bookshelves.

ADHA in conjunction with DENTSPLY Professional is pleased to announce the Graduate Student Clinicians Research Program. The director of each graduate dental hygiene program may identify one student to participate. One graduate dental hygiene student per program may present their research in a standard scientific poster, in the format of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR).

RDH poster session presenters are able to setup their presentations. 

ADHA Research Poster Session at ADHA's Annual Conference provides dental hygiene researchers and educators the opportunity to present their work, exchange ideas and share information and effective strategies for teaching and mentoring research with their colleagues and other dental hygienists. Posters should pertain to ADHA's National Dental Hygiene Research Agenda, evidence-based patient-centered dental hygiene practice, or an area of dental hygiene-related research significant to the participant.

ADHA member hygienists, serving as judges, will evaluate the quality of the student presentations. Judging will take place on Wednesday, June 14 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Please consider volunteering your time as a judge in the Undergraduate Student Research Competition. It's a great way to support ADHA and the students who are the future of the dental hygiene profession!

All judges are invited to attend the awards breakfast that will be held Thursday, June 15 from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.

3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.Undergraduate Student Research Competition Participant Setup

ADHA is pleased to announce the Undergraduate Student Research Competition. Up to four recipients will be awarded during ADHA’s 94th Annual Conference in Jacksonville.  Winners will receive the following:

  • Certificate
  • Glass award
  • $3,600 awarded to students divided by first, second, third place
  • $3,600 in matching grants divided by first, second and third place
