ASID is pleased to invite submission of abstracts for poster presentation at the Gram Negative "Superbugs" Meeting. Original research, case reports and case series submissions are welcome. Accepted poster abstracts will be published in the meeting handbook, on the Gram Negative "Superbugs" Meeting website and displayed at the meeting.
 
The Gram-Negative "Superbugs" Meeting oral presentations will be from keynote invited speakers only.
 
The following poster guidelines are to be read prior to development of your abstract and submission.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Poster abstracts will be reviewed by the Organising Committee for quality, innovativeness and consistency with meeting themes.

ABSTRACT PREPARATION GUIDELINES
All abstracts must:
  • Use Arial 12 point type only
  • Use single spacing only
  • Format - Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) files only
  • Leave one line between paragraphs
  • Specify all abbreviations in full at the first mention, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses, thereafter abbreviation only should be used
  • Be written in English
  • Be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar
  • Do not include references
  • Do not include tables
  • All abstracts must include:
  • TITLE: in BOLD CAPITALS at the top of the poster abstract
  • THEME: Immediately following the title
  • LIST OF AUTHORS:
  • Principal author to appear first
  • Use surname followed by initials (do not use full stops or commas between surname and initials, e.g., Paterson DL)
  • Omit degrees and titles
  • Include affiliations for each author. Use superscript numbering after the author’s name to indicate affiliations
    BODY OF POSTER ABSTRACT: maximum 250 words

1. For presentations of original research, the following headings are recommended:
  • Background: study objectives, hypothesis tested, or description of problem
  • Methods: method used or approach taken
  • Results: in summarised form, must include data but do not include tables, graphs or pictures
  • Conclusion: description of main outcomes of the study. Include knowledge or insight that meeting attendees will gain from the abstract, explanation of how meeting attendees can apply the skills and/or knowledge within their communities and how the study contributes to evidence-based knowledge
2. For case reports or case series and where clinical pictures form the body of the proposed poster, a brief description of the cases and why they are of note is all that is required in the abstract. Please make the title concise and informative.
Note: If the body of the abstract is more than 250 words it will be returned for revision.

DISCLOSURE OF INTEREST STATEMENT:
The Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases (ASID) recognises the considerable contribution that industry partners make to professional and research activities. We also recognise the need for transparency of disclosure of potential conflicts of interest by acknowledging these relationships in all written publications.

Note: If accepted, authors will be requested to include a disclosure of interests on the poster.
 
POSTER ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Poster Abstracts must be submitted electronically through the delegate portal. Submissions will require:
  • Authors’ names (indicating contact details - address, telephone and email)
  • Abstract title
  • Abstract as a Word document (maximum 250 words) plus a disclosure of interests statement
Please contact the Meeting Secretariat if you are unable to lodge your poster abstract via the website or if you have any queries.
By submitting a poster abstract, all authors agree to release the license to the Meeting Organisers and give permission to publish the abstract in the meeting handbook, on the website and have the poster displayed at the event, and in so doing, certify that the abstract is original work.
In addition, we will ask the authors’ permission to have a pdf file of the poster available for display on the ASID website. We encourage this option, but it is not mandatory.

Note: If the poster abstract does not conform to the guidelines, including if it is over 250 words, it will be returned to the submitting author for revision.

MEETING REGISTRATION:
All authors will be required to fund their own attendance at the meeting and should not submit an abstract if this is not possible.
All authors will be required to register for the meeting by Friday 24 May 2013. It will be assumed that any author not registered by this date has withdrawn from the program and their poster abstract will be removed from the handbook.

 
POST ABSTRACT DEADLINE PROCEDURE:
  • Poster abstracts will be reviewed and outcome letters will be sent within 1 month from the abstract deadline.
  • No correspondence will be entered into by the committee or meeting secretariat on outcome decisions.
