Welcome and Introduction to the Session
Moderator and Keynote Speaker Pamela Rucker will set the stage by providing background to the CIO Executive Council and introducing The 10 Most Important Pieces of Advice, created by female senior IT executives around the world to document their most important advice to women at all stages of their career.  Attendees will complete a self-assessment, indicating the degree to which they demonstrate the leadership behaviors associated with these pieces of advice and share their personal growth areas with others. Pamela will share the 3 pieces of advice that are the primary focus for the day: gain a broad view of the business, be a trail blazer and risk taker, and identify the impact of your personal life on your career journey.

9:00 am - 9:45 am

Keynote Presentation - Leading with Impact in Today's Organizations
Organizations will always need leaders who can impact and influence business direction and results in an increasingly complex and demanding environment.  Such leadership requires a great deal of self-awareness, as well as the ability to take calculated risks, to continuously create value for the firm and directly impact the bottom line; and to build cross organizational partnerships to solve problems and accomplish goals. Pamela will not only share personal experiences and lessons learned related to these 3 pieces of advice, but she will also support her thoughts with relevant research.  Attendees will engage in a small group discussion of their current leadership challenges and related personal barriers.

9:45 am - 10:30 am

Interactive Panel Discussion - Challenges Facing Women Today
Research done at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) suggests that women now spend less time thinking about how to fit into a man’s world and more on the lifestyle choices they confront – the choices, decisions, trade-offs they face daily  about how to be a woman leader.  For example, choices about whether or not a particular assignment is the right opportunity at the time, or choices about how to alter their leadership style to meet organizational requirements for advancement. Pamela will be joined by a panel of leading female executives who will share personal stories, advice and best practices for taking risks, gaining a broad view, and identifying the impact of your life on your career at each stage of the journey. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share best practices with each other.
