Developing skills in ultrasound

Learning objectives
A two day course to build on knowledge gained from the basic ultrasound course. Providing a comprehensive review of regional musculoskeletal ultrasound. Emphasis is on diagnosis and differential diagnosis of musculoskeletal pathology and the pitfalls of interpretation. The faculty will consist primarily of consultants in clinical rheumatology. There will be opportunities to assess patients during the practical sessions of the programme.

Who should attend
Consultant rheumatologists, SpRs in rheumatology and allied health professionals who have attended the BSR basic ultrasound course and regularly use ultrasound.

N.B. Delegates must have previously attended a Basic Ultrasound Course and regularly carry out scanning within their day-to-day work.

Bursaries available
If you are a member of BSR / BHPR you can apply for a £500 bursary towards the cost of attending our basic ultrasound course and / or our developing ultrasound course. You will need to pay for the course in advance and will be refunded £500 in the form of a cheque once you have attended and completed the course, providing you meet the criteria and complete the form.

To apply for the bursary you will need to:
  • Be a current BSR/BHPR member based in the UK
  • Have access to an ultrasound machine, and for the developing skills course have attended the BSR basic ultrasound course or equivalent
  • Return this completed form, countersigned by your local ultrasound trainer, or BSR regional chair
  • Attend and complete the course
