MEDAXIOM-PLANNED ACTIVITIES

MedAxiom will be offering the opportunity to enjoy some fun activities during the days of the event. You can choose one of these activities during the registration process:

Jeep tour. Experience the magnificent Rocky Mountains in varied locations within the White River National Forest on a scenic Jeep tour. Knowledgeable guides will take you to elevation heights of 12,000 feet in open air Jeeps. With over 15 different trails to choose from, our access to remote and scenic areas is unsurpassed. Enjoy views of high alpine meadows, wildflowers, Colorado's famous 14,000-foot peaks and there is always a chance to see some wildlife. Following the morning tour you will enjoy a made-to-order lunch at the beautiful Lodge at Camp Hale. Based within a National Historic Site, Camp Hale offers a great look into the past that served as the former training grounds of the famed 10th Mountain Division.

Wade Fishing. Fish Gold Medal Water or Wild Water designated areas that include local rivers and lakes within the White River national Forest. You may choose to fly fish or use a spin rod. Includes... all necessary equipment, fishing rods, flies or lures, waders, and transportation. 

Mountain Biking. For a fun filled adventure and suitable for the entire family, escape into the Rocky Mountains on mountain bikes. Pedal with ease on our trails throughout historic Camp Hale, following the headwaters of the Eagle River. Stop and take pictures of fields of wildflowers along the way as you take in views of the Pando Valley. 

White Water Rafting. This whitewater rafting trip offers beginner to moderate level rapids with wonderful scenery. Only 20 minutes from Vail and Beaver Creek, this is a great family rafting trip that requires no previous rafting experience. As your adventure begins, you are challenged almost instantly by class III rapids, and two other class III rapids along the way will keep you on your toes. Over 10 miles long, you'll have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy some great scenery along the way! 


OTHER ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA

Parks:

  • Glenwood Hot Springs – This celebrated natural wonder boasts the world's largest hot springs pool.
  • Betty Ford Alpine Gardens – Open seasonally, this is the highest-elevation public garden in North America at 8,200 feet.
  • Lake Dillon – World-class sailing, boat rentals, sailing instruction, and racing regattas are all available at Lake Dillon, which at 9,000-feet elevation, is home for the highest yacht club in North America.

Performing Arts:

  • Vilar Performing Arts Center – The performing arts center, located in Beaver Creek Village, features a wide variety of entertainment, including jazz, big, band, rock ‘n’ roll, classical, and country music; as well as, theater, comedy, and family shows.
  • Gerald Ford Amphitheater – Open-air concerts and dance recitals are among the many events staged at Vail’s Ford Park each summer.
  • Dobson Ice Arena – The Arena, located in Vail, is open year-round for recreational activities and also commonly hosts concerts.
  • Red Rocks Amphitheatre – Fifteen miles west of Denver, Red Rocks is a unique, geologically formed, open-air amphitheatre that draws headline bands every summer.

Golf:

  • Beaver Creek Golf Club – The Beaver Creek Golf Club, nestled against the slopes of Beaver Creek Mountain, is one of the longest established golf courses in the Vail Valley. Opened in 1982, the course was designed by noted course architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and is known and respected for its long, narrow challenging fairways and its stunning scenery.
  • Red Sky Ranch & Golf Club – Red Sky is a private membership club with a separate resort golf operation. Members and guests each enjoy their own clubhouse and alternate play daily between the Tom Fazio and Greg Norman courses.
  • Sonnenalp Golf Club  – Golfers of all levels will enjoy the everyday playability of the course and the challenge it offers to those who seek it. Imagine the best of a Scottish links course combined with the spectacular scenery of the Colorado Rockies.
  • Gypsum Creek Golf Course – The only Pete Dye signature course in the Vail Valley
  • Eagle-Vail Golf Club – Created by the Devlin/Von Hagge design team, EagleVail Golf club is full of elevation change and unique play. Elevated tees guarantee gravity-defying drives in the rarefied air, and, at 6836 yards, beginners won’t be intimidated and experienced golfers will be well-challenged.
  • Vail Golf Club – Highlighted by views of the Gore Mountain Range, Vail’s mountain-style, 18-hole course features unique fairways, smooth putting surfaces and a scenic layout amidst the White River National Forest.

Shopping:

  • Riverwalk of Edwards – The Riverwalk of Edwards offers a variety of unique boutiques, a movie theater and an array of dining options. Throughout the summer, Edwards also offers a fresh farmers market every Sunday with a mixture of fresh fruits, vegetables and local treats.
  • Beaver Creek Village – At the heart of Beaver Creek Resort lies a secluded alpine village with a performing arts center, challenging golf course, year-round outdoor ice rink, world-class shopping and an impressive collection of restaurants.
