Leopold Beer joined Bosch Sensortec shortly after its foundation in 2006 and has been working as a sales director and afterwards global marketing director. Since March 2013 he is the Regional President of Asia Pacific.

Prior to joining Bosch Sensortec, Leopold Beer held various engineering and managerial positions in the semiconductor and the automotive industry.
 
Jérémie Bouchaud

Jérémie Bouchaud is unique to the MEMS industry – his breadth of MEMS, sensor devices and application knowledge is unmatched, particularly in terms of automotive, consumer markets, industrial, and medical applications. Formerly, he was a founder and the head of MEMS research for Wicht Technologie Consulting. In his current position at IHS, Bouchaud is responsible for the MEMS service area. In the course of his career, he has led more than 100 MEMS-related market research endeavors. Prior to WTC, he oversaw technology transfer for sensors and MEMS at the German office of CEA-LETI. Bouchaud is a graduate of the Munich University of Applied Sciences and of Ecole Supérieur de Commerce of Grenoble. He speaks German, English and French.
 
Takeshi Ito

Overview of Professional Experience
  • Takeshi was appointed Chief Technology Officer and Head of Technology of Sony Mobile Communications on 1st October 2012.
  • From 2011, Takeshi was Vice President, in charge of Research within Technology, Sony Mobile Communications (formerly Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications).
  • From 2009 to 2011, Takeshi held the position of General Manager, in charge or R&D within Silicon Valley Development, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications.
  • Takeshi joined Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications in 2003. He has held various senior management positions within the company over the last ten years.
  • Takeshi joined Sony Kihara Research Center in 1996 as a system engineer, moved to Sony Computer Entertainment in 1998.

Denise Kaske Ph.D.

Dr. Kaske received a Bachelor of Arts in International Business Studies at University of Glamorgan in 2006, and Master of Science in Marketing at University of Leicester in 2009. She is currently Business Development Manager Asia, International Business Development Department, at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. Previously, she worked as a Project Assistant for Fraunhofer Representative Office Middle East in Dubai, and as a Student Assistant, International Business Development Department, at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
 
Karen Lightman
Executive Director

Karen Lightman became MEMS Industry Group (MIG) managing director in 2007 and promoted to Executive Director in 2013. Formerly director of special projects, Karen played a pivotal role in launching MIG in January 2001. Karen is active on the worldwide MEMS conference circuit as a keynote speaker and panelist promoting MIG’s role as the leading trade association advancing MEMS across global markets. Karen manages the operations of MIG; spearheads strategic growth; and oversees sales, public relations, marketing and outreach. Karen plays a critical role in creating the content for all MIG and MIG-partner conferences, events and programming. She is instrumental in establishing and maintaining partnerships with other international organizations to advance the MEMS industry.

Karen joined MIG from Carnegie Mellon University's Center for Economic Development where she was senior policy analyst. Prior to Carnegie Mellon, Karen was senior associate at Cleveland Tomorrow, a public-private partnership, and before that, she was a program associate with the Ford Foundation.

Karen has a BA from the University of Vermont (UVM) and a MS in Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. Karen is a board member and chair of the Board Development Committee of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW), Pittsburgh and in 2012 received the NCJW National Award for Emerging Leaders. Karen is secretary for her UVM alumni class; mentor at UVM’s Honors College; and volunteers at the Environmental Charter School at Frick Park. Karen and her family reside in Pittsburgh, PA.

On April 23, 2014 she will be the Keynote speaker at the Nanomicrobiz Robotech conference and the title of her abstract is “MEMS and Sensor Trends – Paving the Way for a True Internet of Things." On April 25, 2014 she will be the Keynote speaker at the MEF Conference with an abstract title of “MIG & MEMS Status."

 
Liang Shi Ph.D.
Product Marketing Director

As product marketing director, Dr. Liang Shi is responsible for marketing of SunEdison semiconductor wafer business for Analog, Discrete, MEMS and Opto segments. Prior to joining SunEdison, Liang Shi worked for NXP and Philips Semiconductors between 1996 and 2013, in different roles as process integration engineer, defectivity engineer, section manager, quality and engineering manager for CIS product line and in his latest role from 2005 until 2013 as procurement director for wafer fab materials, with focus on semiconductor wafer procurement.

Dr Shi received his Master and PhD degrees in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands, and did a Post-doc project in III-V materials at the same university.
 
Babak Taheri Ph.D.
Vice President and General Manager
Freescale Semiconductor
In May 2013, Babak Taheri joined Freescale as the Vice President and General Manager of the Sensor Solutions Division.

Prior to Freescale, Dr. Taheri was the vice president of non-volatile products (NVP) at Cypress Semiconductor where he acquired Ramtorn, and ranked No.1 at Cypress BU for gross margin. Dr. Taheri has held other positions at Cypress including VP of corporate IP, whose team headed up development of Cypress’s first multi-touch sensing technology. He also established over 12 centers of excellence worldwide managing design IP for the corporation. 

Prior to re-joining Cypress, Dr. Taheri was vice president of engineering at InvenSense Inc., a fabless MEMS semiconductor company focusing on high-volume product delivery to consumer markets. 

Dr. Taheri has more than 28 years of semiconductor industry experience including founding Integrated Biosensing Technologies, a sensor biomedical corporation. He also has held key positions at Intel, SRI International, Redwood Microsystems, and Apple. 

Dr. Taheri holds a doctorate degree in electrical engineering & Neurosciences from the University of California at Davis, and more than 21 issued U.S. patents.
 
Daido Uchida
General Manager, Technology Marketing & Development Center
OMRON
Daido Uchida is a R&D Center Manager of Omron Management Center of America, a North American headquarter of Omron Corporation in Kyoto, Japan. 

R&D Center based in Silicon Valley seeks advanced technologies and collaborative partnership in the field of sensing and control, Omron’s core technology, in North America as well as globally. Uchida’s main focus includes but not limited to green technology and future factory automation with minimum energy consumption. 

Uchida has more than 10 years of experience in micro optics. He developed a microfabrication processing for microlens with diameters as small as 10 micrometres, which is fundamental for modern high-quality liquid-crystal projector and backlight. As a member of Standardization Committee of Japan Optoelectronic Industry and Technology Development Association, he works on establishing domestic (JIS) and international (ISO) standards for microlens. In the past 5 year, he had engaged in R&D strategy and planning for Omron core technology. He holds a M.S. in semiconductor electronics from Kansai University.
 
Xi Wang Ph.D.
Director General
Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology

Prof. Wang graduated from Tsinghua University in 1987, and received a Master Degree and a Ph.D of Materials Physics in 1990 and 1993, respectively, from the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences.  He worked as a Research Assistant of SIMIT from 1993 to 1994.  

During this period, he worked in Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization as a visiting scholar from July 1993 to May 1994.  He then worked successively as an Associate Researcher, Deputy Head of Laboratory, Researcher and Head of Laboratory from 1994 to 2004.  During that time, he worked in Forschungszentrum Rossendorf as a “Humboldt” Fellow from May 1996 to June 1998.  

He was awarded the Special Government Allowance of the State Council in 1998, as well as the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 1999.  He was elected as Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009, and has been the General Director of SIMIT since July 2010.
