AELP Autumn Conference 2013
Making a Difference with Employers

Date: Tuesday, 22 October 2013
Venue: Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, NEC, Birmingham

"Over the last few months we have seen an unprecedented number of major policy changes and proposals including Study Programmes, Traineeships 24+ Loans and Apprenticeships.  Join us at our Autumn Conference to hear us set out these challenges and hear how training providers are turning these policy changes into solutions for employers.   It is only providers working closely with employers that can make these policy changes a reality.

We are working with our strategic partners Pearson to explore some of the answers to these major challenges. Join us and be part of these key debates."

Stewart Segal, Chief Executive, Association of Employment and Learning Providers

Overview

This timely AELP Autumn Conference comes at an important juncture in the skills and employment arena with the focus on reforming Apprenticeships, a possible redesign of the Work Programme and a Cabinet Office review of support for young people.

This conference will bring together key policymakers from DfE, DWP, SFA and stakeholders involved in these areas of policy; including employers, to debate how reforms can really benefit business and learners.

With a reach to nearly 640,000 employers, AELP provider members are at the front line of making established programmes like Apprenticeships a continued success while meeting the challenge of attracting young people and businesses to newer programmes like Traineeships and Study Programmes.  Providers are responding to a changing funding landscape with, for example, the introduction of learner loans and they are adjusting to the demands of Ofsted’s new Common Inspection Framework.

Fresh off its well-received policy manifesto for skills and employment launched at June’s national conference, AELP will be using the Autumn Conference to set out new policy positions in response to recent government consultations.  Expert panel sessions will encourage genuine debate during a packed day and AELP members will have every opportunity to have their voice heard.
