The Amazing Changing Australian Economy

The Australian economy has gone through amazing changes in recent years & the bumpy rise looks set to continue. So what are the prospects for the coming year & what are the ‘Big’ Issues to watch. Craig will assess the outlook for both the domestic & global economies & also provide views on shares, property, interest rates & currencies. Through the session Craig will constantly challenge the “So what?” question to highlight the relevance of the ‘Big Picture’ changes to the Corporate Travel sector.
You may recognise Craig James from his regular appearances on television, radio & in newspaper interviews or have read one of his economic commentaries. As Chief Economist for CommSec, Craig interprets the ‘big picture’ economic & financial trends for customers, clients & staff. He was previously Chief Economist at Colonial, has worked at the Australian Financial Review as a senior writer & been in banking, finance & journalism for over 33 years. He holds both Bachelor & Master degrees in Commerce (Economics); undertaken at University of NSW. In 2012 he was appointed an Adjunct Professor at Curtin Business School in Perth.

He is also the Managing Director of tClara, where he is pioneering the concept of trip friction & on-demand travel analytics. After helping pioneer the concept of modern travel sourcing while at A.T. Kearney, Scott founded Travel Analytics, which he built into the leading independent travel procurement consultancy.

Scott holds an MBA from the University of Chicago & speaks at travel industry conferences around the world.

Peter established CAPA in 1990, which provides education & training courses for the aviation & tourism industries, major conferences on key aviation topics, & is now the world’s largest publisher of B2B commercial aviation information & analysis. Peter is an aviation lawyer, consultant & high-level commentator on industry issues. His career in aviation comprises more than 40 years including 2 years with the Australian mission to the International Civil Aviation Organisation in Montreal & 10 years at a senior level in IATA in Geneva. Over the past 20 years, he has conducted more than 200 consultancy projects in aviation, including airport privatisations, airline start-ups, strategy formulation & regulatory development. He has authored &/or edited numerous reports on the aviation industry, including a recent comprehensive 300-page report on the global low cost airline industry. Formerly Chairman of IATA’s World Aviation Regulation Monitoring Group, President of the Aviation Law Association of Australia/NZ & an IATA Travel Agency Commissioner, Peter holds LLBs from Melbourne & London Universities & LLM (McGill).

Michael Duff has built an enviable reputation in the Corporate & Government sectors as one of Australia's leading coaches of High Performance Human Behaviour. He has worked with many organisations in driving performance improvement & his client list reads like a who’s who of Australia’s leading companies. At the age of 28 Michael was appointed Chief Executive of the Australasian PGA Tour, where it experienced it's greatest period of growth. From there he joined the global ATP Tour as Executive Vice President – International Group. With a front row seat, Michael was able to observe the world's best Golfers & Tennis Champions at work & develop insights to what separated the best from the rest of the pack.
