General Information

The 2019 Battalion Chief Academy, sponsored by the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association, consists of 8 one-day sessions which will be offered on the following dates:

October 10 & 11
October 16, 17,& 18
October 23, 24 & 25

Each session will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m. and you must attend all sessions to successfully complete the Academy.


The program target audience is newly promoted Battalion Chiefs or senior level company officers seeking to promote to Battalion Chief. Sessions will be presented by a variety of speakers, many of whom are fire service leadership presenters at the national level.  Participants will receive three college credits through Maricopa County Community Colleges at no additional cost. 


Registration cost for the Academy is $475 for non-members and $425 for AFCA members whose dues are current for 2019.  Registration fee includes all course materials and light snacks during the session. Participants are on their own for lunch and there are a number of eating establishments within a short drive of the session location. To register use the New Registration button to the right.
