Oral Surgery: A Review (Part 1)
Presented by Dr. Joel Rosenlicht

Wednesday, May 15, 2019
7:30 p.m. CT

Subject Code: 310 - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery                Credits: 1

Description:

This is a Blended Learning course will cover overview of Pre-Surgical Medical History and Surgical consents. Delivering excellent care begins with understanding the medical status and condition of the patient. Not acquiring or not understanding important effects of a patient’s medical history can not only diminish the quality of care you can provide but can also exposes you to significant medical legal exposure. Prior to rendering any surgical or invasive treatment, a consent form from the patient needs to be obtained. This lecture will combine the necessary components of a consent form with an understanding of complications that can arise from the removal of teeth — often considered by patients to be a simple routine procedure. We will discuss the harvesting, preparation and use of autologous blood components, especially PRGF, PRP and fibrin membranes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding the importance of a comprehensive medical history and present drug therapies and the result to surgical dental treatments.
  • Review medical/legal implications that are associated with an improper or non-existent informed consent.
  • Understand the differences and uses of graft materials
  • Learn about the benefits of the objective materials that we can use to enhance bone grafting success

* Registration closes at 5:00 pm CT on the day of the event.
