Knit for Kids

We invite you to be a part of World Vision’s Knit for Kids, the charity of choice for Vogue Knitting LIVE. You and your hand-knit caps or scarves will give warmth and comfort to children in need across the nation—and around the world! We are honored to be joined in our effort by Debbie Macomber, #1 New York Times bestselling author, avid knitter, and the new Knit for Kids International Spokesperson. Debbie’s brand-new novel, Angels at the Table, will be published just in time for Vogue Knitting LIVE and will featured at the show.

Knit for Kids is a nationwide family of 28,000 volunteer knitters who fight poverty with their knitting needles. Nearly one million children living in poverty have received hand-knit items that bring warmth to their lives through Knit for Kids.

YOU can join us with Debbie Macomber and World Vision’s Knit for Kids too! Here’s how:

1) Knit Before Vogue Knitting LIVE

Get a head start—knit caps and scarves before you arrive at Vogue Knitting LIVE! Simply download the knit cap and scarf patterns here and the crochet cap pattern here you’ll be on your way. Any items received by October 15 will be distributed by World Vision to children in need in the Chicago area on October 25.

Here are two easy ways to send in your knitted caps or scarves:

3) Knit Year-Round

Last year alone, World Vision distributed more than 66,000 knitted items to children in poverty in the U.S. and around the world. You can help us double this in 2012! With every stitch you lovingly knit, you bring hope and warmth to vulnerable children living in poverty, disaster, or difficult situations. Simply knit your items and mail them directly to World Vision’s Distribution Center—they will make sure that the children most in need receive your hand-knit items!
