Carlos Alejandro Belloni
Strategic Consultant in Digital Transformation

Carlos Belloni holds an Industrial Engineer (ITBA) and an MBA degree (IDEA). He has also studies in Economics, Art History and Philosophy. Carlos joined Zurich in 2011 as COO for the Region. In his role, Carlos was responsible for Operations, IT, Underwriting, Claims, Customer Service and Business Transformation for both segments throughout the Latin America Region.
 
Prior to joining Zurich Carlos was most recently at MetLife where he spent ten years performing different roles at local and regional levels. Before that Carlos worked for Pioneer Hi-Bred International and Hoffmann La-Roche pharmaceutical company among other companies.
 
Now he is working with a major health company in its digital transformation roadmap as well as with many CEOs at Banks and Financial Institutions regarding digital transformation and the integration of their companies with new tech firms, many of them brand new start-ups.
 
He has recently published a book called “Esculpiendo el Futuro” (Sculpting the Future).
 
Mariano Bravo

Mariano is a criminal lawyer and graduate from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He has an extensive experience in the Judicial Power of the Nation, as a legal advisor in the Rectory of the UBA, and as partner of an important law firm in Buenos Aires.

He has been in charge of the Fraud Prevention area of San Cristóbal Seguros for 10 years and in the last 2 years he has also worked as a Product Owner in the Digital Transformation department, in charge of developing predictive models through advanced analytics.
 
Liliana Cardozo de Cano

Liliana Cardozo de Cano graduated with a degree in Accounting Sciences, Faculty of Economics, Administration and Accounting, at the National University of Asunción. She has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry and has achieved a solid background in general and life insurance, having receiving several trainings in administrative, accounting and technical insurance issues.
 
She began her work in insurance in 1997, the year in which the Aseguradora Tajy was formed, thus becoming the first official of the company as Assistant to the Board and Accounting and Administrative Assistant. She later became Head Accountant, then the Administrative Manager and finally General Manager in 2007.
 
She has participated in national and international seminars and conferences on topics related to Managerial Leadership, Insurance and Reinsurance, Money Laundering Prevention, ISO Standards, Risk Retention Regime, Cooperative Banking and Insurance, Internal Quality Auditor, Financial Indicators, General Aspects of Reinsurance, Human Factors in Business, Marketing for Insurance Companies, and Role of People in Business Success, among others.
 
Jorge Claude
Executive Vice-President
Chilean Insurance Association (Chile)

Jorge is a Civil Engineer specialized in Structures from the University of Chile, and has a Masters in Economics and Business Management, from the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de la Empresa (IESE Business School), Barcelona, Spain.
 
He was Economic Vice-Chancellor, Academic Vice-Chancellor, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and a professor at the Universidad del Norte. Later, as Finance Manager of Banmédica S.A., he started the activities of a life insurance company and an AFP (Pension Fund Administrator). He was Finance Manager of Banrenta Compañía de Seguros de Vida.

He was also Director of Studies for the degree in Commercial Engineering and later Academic Director and professor at the ESE Business School of the Universidad de los Andes. He has also served as a member of the AFP Risk Classification Commission and a member of the Board of Directors of several companies.

As General Manager of the Asociación de Aseguradores de Chile A.G. (Chilean Insurance Association), he has assumed international positions, becoming Secretary General of FIDES for two terms. In September 2012 he was appointed Executive Vice President of the Chilean Insurance Association
 
Carlos De la Torre

On October 2018, Carlos joined AM Best América Latina (AMBAL) as Senior Director, heading the office on a day-to-day basis. He is directly in charge of Business Development division as well as Operations for Latin America and the Caribbean, from the Mexico City office. He is currently a Member of the Board of Directors for AMBAL.

Carlos has over 15 years’ experience in the Insurance and Reinsurance market. He started in 2003 in Marsh Mexico as a trainee broker, in 2005 he joined Cooper Gay in London, as broker for Property and Terrorism facultative business for Latin America, conducting negotiations at Lloyd’s of London and with other European reinsurers. In 2010 he returned to Mexico with Som.us (formerly Cooper Gay Mexico), where as an Assistant Director he led the Practice for the Facultative Property, Casualty and Aviation divisions for Mexico, Central America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean.

Carlos holds a Business Management degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, and is a Certified Insurance Professional (C.I.P. Level) as per the Accounted Chartered Insurance Institute (A.C.I.I.) of London, UK.
 
Marc Deiter

Shelter Mutual Insurance Company (USA)

Marc is the Director of Say Insurance – a direct-to-consumer auto insurance brand that is part of the Shelter Insurance group of companies based in Columbia, Missouri.
 
He led the creation and build-out of this new direct-channel brand to broaden Shelter's growth opportunities. Say focuses on enhancing the digital customer experience while driving operational excellence. Marc's management consulting background, prior experience in starting new programs, business knowledge and technical awareness helped him lead the company through the creation of the brand, the customer experience, and analytics. Now that Say Insurance is launched, he is responsible for setting the product vision and roadmap along with maintaining successful growth.
 
Marc holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and resides in Columbia, MO.
 
Georgina Díaz Sánchez

Sociedad de Seguros de Vida del Magisterio Nacional (Costa Rica)

Georgina Díaz Sánchez graduated with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Costa Rica. She is a Certified Public Accountant and worked for over 12 years as Audit Manager at Deloitte & Touche.

She has more than 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry, starting as an assistant in the audit department of Sociedad de Seguros de Vida del Magisterio Nacional (SSVMN). She then held the position of Lead Auditor for 4 years, and since 2001, she has served as General Manager, the highest position in the company.

Georgina Díaz is a member of the Board of Directors of ICMIF/Americas, and has held the position of Chair since August 2015; the Latin American Reinsurance Group (LARG); Seguros del Magisterio S.A; and the Corporación de SERVICIOS Múltiples del Magisterio Nacional (the National Union of Teachers).

In her spare time, Georgina volunteers for non-governmental organizations that help elderly people with disabilities and nature conservation projects.
 
Andrés Elola

An economist by training, Andrés Elola graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Administration of the Universidad de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay (University of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay) in 1987. Continuing with his academic education, he returned to the same university faculty in 2001 to complete a postgraduate degree in Administration and then a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance.

Since 1992, he has worked for Compañía Cooperativa de Seguros SURCO as General Manager; fulfilling the main objectives of coordinating and controlling the strategic direction and operations of SURCO in Uruguayan insurance market.
 
Andrés Fiorotto

Andrés trained in journalism, specializing in technology, and worked in various publications in the sector and published several books on the subject. Since 2011 he has been part of Rio Uruguay Seguros (RUS), first coordinating the company's digital communications and now, together with the corporate presidency, its digital transformation process.
 
Helton Freitas

Helton is a medical doctor and specialist in Public Health, focusing on Planning and Administration of Health Services. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 1989. He attended the Executive MBA in Health Management by Ibmec and the Performance Management by Fundação Dom Cabral. He joined the Unimed System in 1998, having been the CEO of Unimed Belo Horizonte for two terms.

At Seguros Unimed, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director of Operations and, since 2015, assumed the Company's presidency. In 30 years of medical cooperativism, he contributed to the founding and management of several cooperatives in the areas of consumption, credit, work and health care.
 
María Belén Gómez

Belén Gómez has a doctorate in Economic Sciences, and is a teacher, researcher and specialist in Sustainability, CSR, and Corporate Universities. She is also a consultant, author and international speaker related to these topics.

Currently, she works as Coordinator of the Corporate University of RIO URUGUAY SEGUROS (U-RUS) and as Institutional Coordinator of the Board of Directors of the Company.
 
Alfredo González Moledo
Chairman
AACMS (Argentina)

Mr Alfredo González Moledo began his career in insurance in 1955. In 1972, he joined the Argentinian Association of Cooperative and Mutual Insurers (AACMS) as General Manager until April 2013, when he became Chairman, a position he holds today.

He has founded many new companies throughout his career, including ASOCIART ART (workers’ compensation), PREVISOL (a pension fund administrator), and ASEGURADORES SOLIDARIOS (a pension insurer). He is the founder of STOP LOSS BUREAU DE REASEGUROS SA (a reinsurance brokerage and exchange) and FINALOSS SA y REASEGURADORES ARGENTINOS SA (a reinsurance company).

He has lectured on insurance and reinsurance in the Latin American region and has co-founded new entities in the region.
 
Ariel Guarco
President
International Co-operative Alliance (ICA)

At the 2017 general assembly, in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), the members of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) elected Ariel Guarco as their president.

He is a cooperative leader that has undertaken a cooperative movement development process in his country, Argentina, and has built strong bonds with the rest of the cooperative movement in the American continent and worldwide.

Mr Guarco started in the cooperative movement over 20 years ago in his home town Electric Cooperative, in Coronel Pringles, Province of Buenos Aires (Argentina), holding different positions until the presidency, which he holds since 2007.

He is President of Cooperar, the Confederation of Cooperatives of Argentina, since 2011 and he has been a Board member of the ICA since 2013. Cooperar works with 74 cooperative federations, 5,000 cooperatives, and 10 million members.

Mr. Guarco is also the President of the Federation of Electric and Public Services Co-operatives of the Province of Buenos Aires (FEDECOBA) since 2008. He is the author of the book “The Argentine Cooperative Movement – A hopeful Look into the Future”.
 
Lisa Guglietti
Executive Vice-President, Chief Operating Officer, P&C Manufacturing
The Co-operators (Canada)

As Executive Vice-President, Chief Operating Officer, Property & Casualty Manufacturing, Lisa oversees the Actuarial, Product and Business Intelligence functions and is accountable for the underwriting performance of three legal entities representing over $3.1 billion of written premium.

Over her 20 plus years at The Co-operators, Lisa has held a variety of positions within the organization.

Lisa is a Fellow of both the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society. She holds a Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo and completed the Co-operative Management Program in 2012.
 
 
Paul Hanna
Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees, ICMIF/Americas and Executive Vice President, Member Relations, Governance and Corporate Services
The Co-operators (Canada)

Paul Hanna was appointed Executive Vice-President, Member Relations, Governance and Corporate Services for The Co‑operators in March 2015. Paul works with our member organizations to build strong business and governance relationships. He is responsible for organizational governance with The Co‑operators Group Limited Board of Directors and its committees. He also provides leadership to other corporate functions including government relations, human resources, legal, and sustainability and citizenship. Prior to his current role, Paul spent many years as Vice-President of Strategic Planning with The Co‑operators.

Paul has 25 years of co‑operative experience working in various operational and governance capacities. He currently sits on the boards of ICMIF/Americas, CMEC, and he serves on the University of Guelph’s Advisory Committee to the College of Business and Economics, as well as The Co‑operators Community Economic Development Committee.

Paul holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Western Ontario, a Master’s in Adult Education from Central Michigan University and he is a Chartered Insurance Professional.
 
Rosana Ibarrart
General Manager
Seguros Bernardino Rivadavia (Argentina)

Rosana Laura Ibarrart was born in the city of La Plata, Argentina, where she studied, now lives and develops her work and personal activity. She has been General Manager of Seguros Rivadavia for 8 years, where she has been working for 35 years, progressing through different positions of responsibility throughout her career. She is a Certified Public Accountant graduated from the National University of La Plata, where she has been teaching since 1984, and for more than 25 years she has been an Adjunct Professor of Accounting.
 
She currently participates in the Board of Directors of ICMIF/Americas, the Board of Directors of the Argentine Association of Coop. and Mutualidades de Seguros (AACMS), and is part of different boards of other companies related and complementary to the insurance industry.
 
Juan Lugo Meléndez
Executive President
Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples (Puerto Rico)

Current Executive President of Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples, Juan’s professional career has been closely bound to this cooperative insurer for over 40 years ago.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting from the University of Puerto Rico Río Piedras Campus. Subsequently, he also obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration, with a major in finance and marketing from Inter American University of Puerto Rico.

Juan began his career as accountant and comptroller at the Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples in 1971, fulfilling tasks related to the analysis of financial statements, reinsurance, and production of yearly financial status reports. He was also in charge of preparing the statutory Annual Statement for the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico. Subsequently, in response to the company’s sustained growth, he went on to become Vice President of Finance, a position which he occupied until his retirement in 2001. However, he continued serving as a consultant to the cooperative’s president from 2001 to 2009 in areas related to finance and investment, and in the management of the Contemporary Art Collection for the organisation. From 2009 to 2017, the experienced executive re-joined the Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples management team as a consultant in finance, investment, and reinsurance, in addition to sitting on several advisory committees and boards of trustees. On 1 September 2017, Lugo began working as Executive Vice President and held that position until being officially appointed Executive President early in January 2018.

Lugo is married to Mizraím Cortés and they have five children.
 
Juan Alberto Pazo
Superintendent of Insurance
Superintendencia de Seguros de la Nación (Argentina)

Juan Pazo is the Superintendent of Insurance of the Republic of Argentina. Before his current appointment in early 2017, Juan served as Chief-of-Staff of the Financial Information Unit, Argentina's supervisor and regulating agency of AML/FT. He served in this role from late 2015 to early 2017.

Prior to joining the public sector, Juan worked as a corporate attorney advising in a wide range of business and corporate transactions. He also served as an exective director in local companies.
 
Martín Pineda

Panal Seguros (Paraguay)

Martin is Paraguayan, a lawyer, and graduated from the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the National University of Asunción in 2008. He is married and has a daughter of 2 years old.

He was registered as an Insurance Agent by the Superintendence of the Central Bank of Paraguay in 2009, and then served as the internal legal auditor of Banking Consulting Service.

He joined the cooperative sector in 2011, serving as legal director of Cooperativa Universitaria Ltda., a leading cooperative in the savings, credit and services sector in Paraguay. He then became part of Panal Compañía Seguros Generales S.A., a leading company within the business holding of the same cooperative entity, occupying the position of General Manager, a position he holds to date.
 
Matias Retzlaff
Software Engineering and Innovation Area Collaborator
Grupo Asegurador La Segunda (Argentina)

Matias is an Information Systems Engineer with experience in software development, project management and team leadership. He graduated from the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional - Facultar Regional Rosario, Argentina.

After having worked as an implementer, developer and systems analyst and later as Head of Post Sales at Profit Sistemas, in 2016 he joined Grupo Asegurador La Segunda as a Systems Analyst. Since 2018, he has been working as a business analyst for innovative products, working on research, development and production of use cases relating to emerging technologies and innovative ideas.

Since December 2017, he has been a Member of the Group of ICMIF Young Leaders of Grupo Asegurador La Segunda and participated in the innovation project Hack2in - the first Hackaton in InsurTech in the Argentine insurance market, promoted by Grupo Asegurador La Segunda.

In 2018, he trained in Machine Learning, developing and implementing an image recognition project through neural networks, within Grupo Asegurador La Segunda. Since 2019, he has been working in the digital transformation team, carrying out projects in emerging technologies and tutoring an Information Systems Engineering student in a Machine Learning project.
 
Alejandro Simón
President, ADIRA and CEO
Grupo Sancor Seguros (Argentina)

Alejandro Simón graduated with honors as an actuary from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and also has a Master's Degree in Business Administration from IAE Universidad Austral, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

He has worked for Grupo Sancor Seguros since 1998, currently occupying the position of CEO. He is President of ADIRA (Association of Insurers of the Interior of the Argentine Republic), President of the Superior Council of FISO (Ibero-American Foundation for Occupational Safety and Health) and Secretary of ALASA (Latin American Association for the Development of Agricultural Insurance). He also chairs CITES (Center for Technological, Business and Social Innovation).

Since 2009, he has been deputy director of the actuary department at the University of Buenos Aires. Similarly, in 2010 he became a member of the Academic Committee of the Master's Degree in Economic and Financial Risk Management for the School of Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Economic Sciences (UBA). He is the author of several publications relating to the social security and has presented at numerous national and international courses and seminars relating to insurance, reinsurance, actuarial science and social responsibility.
 
Ruth Soto
General Manager
Cooperativa Nacional De Seguros (Dominican Republic)

Ms. Soto has a Bachelor of Marketing from Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, the official State University of the Dominican Republic.

From a young age she began developing her professional career in the field of cooperatives and insurance. She has trained in management, business leadership and cooperative finance. She is a specialist in insurance business, achieving successful results at various levels nationwide, and has an extensive knowledge in financial analysis, planning, international business, budgeting, insurance and reinsurance.

She has held numerous management positions and is currently the General Manager of COOPSEGUROS, a position she has held since September 2014. She is also a member of the Board of the Latin American Association for Reinsurance Education (LARG).

Ms. Soto’s recognitions in the cooperative sector, include: “Women Entrepreneurs”, Coop. Herrera; “Women Enecoop 2015”, National School of Cooperatives; and Revolutionary General Manager at the XXVI General Assembly of Delegates at COOPSEGUROS. The Business Year, an English magazine, published an article about the insurance sector in Dominican Republic, in which Ms. Soto participated with significant contributions on the theme of cooperative insurance.
 
Shaun Tarbuck
Chief Executive
ICMIF (UK)

Shaun joined the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF) in 1995 as Vice-President, Membership and Finance and was appointed Chief Executive in 2005. Shaun sits on the ICMIF Board and the regional boards as well as being the Vice-Chair of the newly formed ICMIF Foundation.

Shaun has established working relationships with key global policymakers in areas as diverse as climate change; disaster risk resilience; poverty alleviation; economic growth; and regulation/legislation. This includes regular contact with the G20 and B20 (where has been a member of the B20 Financing Growth & Infrastructure taskforce since 2014); the United Nations, including speaking at the UN General Assembly; the UNISDR where he spoke at the Sendai (2015) and the Cancun (2017) Conferences on integrating risk into the financial system; the UNDP; the IMF; the World Bank; the OECD; and the more insurance specific arenas of the Financial Stability Board (FSB) and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS). Shaun is an ex-officio member of the newly formed Insurance Development Forum (IDF) Steering Group which brings together insurance industry leaders with global policymakers from the UN, World Bank and FSB to ensure insurance related issues are discussed at the highest level. He is also Co-Chair of the IDF Microinsurance task force.

Shaun regularly speaks at conferences and to mutual boards on mutuality, regulation, governance, marketing, branding and other strategic issues affecting the mutual and cooperative insurance sector and the wider insurance sector. He is a board member of the Climate Bonds Initiative that promotes Green Bonds and is a board member of Regis Mutual Management that sets up and runs new mutual insurers.
 
Hilde Vernaillen
Chair, ICMIF and Chair of the Management Committee
P&V (Belgium)

Hilde Vernaillen has been working in the financial services industry for more than twenty years and is a committed defender of the mutual/cooperative business model in insurance. She is a regular conference speaker on various subjects of insurance, mutual and cooperative business.
Hilde was appointed as CEO of P&V Insurance and VIVIUM in 2011 after twenty years in the P&V Group, first in the bank and later on in the insurance companies.

Since October 2016, she has been Chair of ICMIF and has served on the ICMIF Board since 2011. She was also President of AMICE (Association of Mutual Insurers and Insurance Cooperatives in Europe) between June 2013 and June 2016. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Euresa, a collaborative and networking tool between 13 European mutual and cooperative insurance companies, and President of the Board of Directors of Febecoop which promotes and defends the co-operative model at regional, federal, European and international level.

Furthermore, she is Vice-President of the Board and a member of the Executive Committee of the Belgian insurance association (Assuralia), and several other organisations in Belgium and other European countries.
