Overview

The current T level proposals are part of a wider approach to the reform of technical education that it is vital all in our sector understand. Providers have recently been invited to express an interest to deliver the programme in 2021 to 2022 academic year, including the transition offer. Supported by DfE and in association with the Gatsby Foundation, AELP is running this half-day workshop that will enable those still unfamiliar with T levels to understand more about what they are and how they will work, and give those with more knowledge the chance to encourage planning ahead for how their introduction may impact on current provision and provide opportunities for new provision going forward.

The day is primarily aimed at providers and provider staff involved in the day to day delivery of provision that may be impacted upon by T levels. We will hear from DfE officials on the objectives and purpose of T levels, with subsequent speakers bringing attendees up to date with policy development and implementation to date. Gatsby Foundation will be on hand to introduce the background and use of the occupational maps, including how they can inform curriculum planning and information for learners. Progress from Gatsby’s local areas programme will also be introduced, with an opportunity to hear from providers collaborating across their localities on coherent planning for technical education. The session will close by discussing with all speakers what is needed from providers, the department, the IfATE and others to identify next steps for operational delivery within the attendee organisation, and to feed back to officials where issues are still outstanding or more information is required.

This is a complimentary event supported by DfE and is likely to attract considerable interest, so early booking is advised.
