There have been many reports of successful immediate placement in the literature. One common problem that has been identified in immediate implant placement is gingival recession in the esthetic zone. This webinar will demonstrate a technique to minimize this potential for recession by using a model guided flapless implant placement. A socket shield technique is also used to reduce the potential for recession by using retained root structure to help maintain the bone and soft tissue. The implant used in this case was composed of nanostructured CP titanium, which has been shown to integrate faster than implants composed of conventional CP titanium and has strength greater than implants composed of titanium alloy. As such, a nanostructured CP titanium implant is especially appropriate for immediate placement and provisionalization.

Learning objectives:

  • understand the advantages of nanostructured titanium implants over conventional titanium implants
  • understand the factors that may affect hard and soft tissue stability following immediate implant placement
  • understand the use of the socket shield technique to enhance the stability hard and soft tissues following immediate implant placement
