Chairman’s Note

You Are Who You Hang Out With

If you hang out with successful people, you will become more successful. If you hang out with physically fit people, you will be inspired to get into better shape. If you spend more time with great leaders, then you will become a better leader.

Changing your life means you must change your thoughts, your actions and the folks you hang out with — especially when it comes to improving your skills and knowledge in business. Whether you are a seasoned executive, a serial entrepreneur or a first-time manager, hanging around awesome people who are driven, successful, more active and happier will motivate you to achieve more personally and professionally.

At this year’s ESX we connected you with the people you wanted to hang out with — the best of the best professionals who are passionate about the business of electronic security and life safety. You and your team had a chance to hang out with these successful folks who have been there and done that!

Now that you are back in the office, take the time to digest ESX. Consider the following as your post-conference action plan:

  1. Follow-up: Take a moment to reach out to meaningful contacts. Make it a personalized message, and better yet, don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and call them.
  2. Practice what you learned: Review what most resonated with you and determine how the newly uncovered information can help your company achieve more or you do your job better.
  3. Share the knowledge: Bring other team members the knowledge that you acquired from ESX. Do a brief report, a lunch and learn, or prepare a deck so that others can gain useful takeaways and be exposed to the latest trends.

I sincerely thank all the attendees, sponsors and exhibitors for helping make ESX a wonderful conference experience. I look forward to seeing you and your team in Nashville for ESX 2018 next June!
