First Female F-14 Tomcat Pilot Lands the Mic at 2017 ESX Keynote Luncheon

“Not Taking a Risk is One of the Biggest Risks That you Can Take” — Carey Lohrenz to Illustrate Lessons in Fearless Leadership

Nashville, TN - ESX has announced Carey Lohrenz, author, speaker and aviator, as its featured speaker for the event’s 2017 Keynote Luncheon, being held Wednesday, June 14 at the Music City Center in Nashville, TN. Lohrenz will present the fundamentals that helped her reach the cockpit and illustrate how these same fundamentals can be used to help teams succeed in business.

Drawing from her experiences as a female Navy pilot in a male dominated organization, Lohrenz will take a deep dive into the foundation of great leadership. As a pioneer in her own industry, Lohrenz has the background to effectively present tools for pushing your team and business forward.

A former Lieutenant in the United States Navy, Lohrenz was the first female aviator to fly an F-14 Tomcat — an aircraft that weighs over 40,000 pounds, can travel a maximum of 1544 mph, and valued over $38 million. While staying focused and being persistent, despite much opposition, Lohrenz was able to capitalize on an opportunity to make history and earn her wings.

The day she and her classmates were to officially select what they wanted to fly, Congress lifted the law that banned women from flying combat aircrafts.

“In a fast-paced environment, leading fearlessly is not easy, but it can be done,” says Lohrenz. “The ability to work through fear kept me alive as I operated under dangerous conditions and in life-or-death situations on the flight deck.”

“Leading fearlessly is what keeps any leader relevant, respected, and moving forward,” she says. “If you’re able to shape the fear into something useful — you’ll be unstoppable.”

Lohrenz will deliver meaningful content promising to educate and motivate your team, elevating your business to new heights. It takes an entire team to get any job done and she will reinforce the value in staying focused on what’s most important, overcoming fear and the unknown, staying committed and conquering adversity together.

“The way Carey frames leadership is like no other," says Melissa Nall of ADT Security Services. "She delivers her amazing story with a dynamic interaction with the audience. I experienced every emotion during her presentation and felt like I was beside her in the cockpit. I left feeling alive, recharged and excited to bring her message to my team."

Lohrenz has spent many years helping executives build high-performing teams, through communicated fundamentals she used while in the Navy.

Her clients include: Dell, PayPal, Toyota, Wells Fargo, Expedia, Kroger, Verizon Wireless, WalMart, CISCO, AutoZone Parts, Inc., American Heart Association and many more.

“Playing it small serves nobody,” Lohrenz says. “Not taking a risk is one of the biggest risks that you can take.”
