Overview - 7 Days/6 Nights


There will be a pre-flight briefing at 18:00hrs on March 9, 2019 (meeting place to be confirmed) for those participants who have arrived. A quick review of the pre-flight briefing will be conducted at the Southmost Aviation FBO before departure the next morning.

Day 1 Sunday, March 10

We will depart Brownsville, TX and fly to Veracruz where we will refuel, complete arrival and departure procedures and proceed to our next destination in Flores, Guatemala. We will again clear customs and immigration and proceed to our exclusive lakeside lodging located on Quexil lagoon at Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel. After checking in and freshening up, we will meet at the resort’s restaurant for dinner.

Day 2 Monday, March 11

Group Activity: After breakfast we will board the vans for a 40 minute ride to the spectacular Tikal National Park declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979 and begin our guided tour of this magnificent archeological site. Before returning to the hotel, we will have lunch at the park. In the afternoon you will be able to enjoy the hotel’s amenities which include kayaking or bicycling, SPA treatments and massages or a tour of the Natural Reserve. If you have not done so already, this is also a good time to book one of several additional tours available with the hotel concierge for the following day. These tours include birding, Monkey Island, the Natural Reserve as well as tours to some smaller archeological sites. We will meet for dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 3 Tuesday, March 12

This is a day to relax and dedicate to whatever activity best suits your personal interest and pleasure. We recommend taking a half day tour and explore the picturesque island of Flores, visit souvenir shops and take a boat tour across lake Peten Itza. We will reconvene in the late afternoon for a pre-flight briefing, followed by dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 4 Wednesday, March 13

After breakfast we will transfer to the airport and prepare for the flight to Cozumel where we will clear customs and immigration before continuing on to our next destination, the fortified city of Campeche, another UNESCO World Heritage located in the Yucatan Peninsula. After completing the arrival procedures, we will transfer to Hacienda Puerta Campeche a boutique hotel conveniently located within walking distance of the city’s main square and next to the “land gate” of the city’s walled historic center. After checking in and freshening up, we will meet at the hotel restaurant for dinner.

Day 5 Thursday, March 14

Group Activity: Following breakfast we will take a one hour ride to Edzna and begin our guided visit of the archeological site. This remarkable Mayan archeological site is believed to have been inhabited as early as 600 BC and abandoned around 1500 AD. After concluding the tour of the site, we will head to Hacienda Uayamon -an estate dating back to 1700-, where we will enjoy lunch before returning to our hotel in Campeche. You will have the rest of the day to spend on your own. We will provide some restaurant suggestions for dinner so that you can take the opportunity and venture out to try some of the local fare.

Day 6 Friday, March 15

Group Activity: After breakfast we will have a guided city tour to become acquainted with some city’s historic events and landmarks including colonial, military and religious constructions. The city of Campeche was founded in 1540 and declared a World Heritage site in 1999. Lunch will be on your own. You will have time in the afternoon to relax or browse in the shops at your own pace. A late afternoon or early evening walk along the esplanade is a very enjoyable treat for locals and tourists alike. We will meet at the hotel for a pre-flight briefing followed by dinner.

Day 7 Saturday, March 16

Following breakfast and after completing the check-out we transfer to the Campeche airport and fly to Veracruz to refuel and complete international departure procedures. Once completed, we start our last flight to Brownsville, Texas.
