Connect with top in-house lawyers all in one room
Participate in a real-world pitch scenario to in-house counsel

Based on rave reviews, ALM is bringing back Perfecting Your Pitch—a not-to-be missed event that supports women in the legal profession by providing a forum for skill enhancement and community building. Whether you're new to the work of pitching clients—or want to test your skills—Perfecting Your Pitch is an opportunity to connect with top in-house lawyers, establish relationships, train for real-world pitch delivery and perfect your presentation skills.

Law firms send teams of up to five lawyers who will pitch to panels of senior in-house counsel in response to a fictional M&A scenario. The fact pattern, provided in advance, opens up a full range of legal and business issues, making this event ideal for cross-disciplinary teams with expertise in corporate litigation, data security, antitrust and other fields. Pitch teams will also need to consider strategic issues such as staffing and budget.

Pitch sessions will last roughly one hour and each team has the opportunity to present to two separate panels. In-house panelists will ask probing questions and provide feedback on the type of presentations and issue spotting they look for in real work scenarios.

Roundtable Sessions – During the event, participants may opt to join a roundtable discussion related to M&A law, business development and gender equity in the legal profession.

The half-day program will culminate with a networking lunch for attendees to exchange perspectives and make new connections. During lunch, we'll hear from a range of in- house lawyers on the dos and don’ts of pitching as our facilitator asks each in-house panel to share their observations and pointers. We want you to focus on establishing professional connections, so the ALM team will be on hand to capture all the advice in a tip sheet shared exclusively with participating pitch teams.
