Why does social emotional learning matter? How does it connect to literacy? Social emotional learning (SEL) is one of the most urgent issues facing educators today, and a key component of educational equity. Research shows that teaching critical SEL skills can result in significant improvements in academic performance; research also shows that access to books and literacy development has a lifelong positive impact on children. How can districts leverage the powerful benefits of SEL in their literacy classrooms?

Join Akimi Gibson, Vice President and Education Publisher at Sesame Workshop, to learn more about the importance of social emotional learning, how it can impact and improve the lives of students at all ages, and what district leaders need to know about the SEL/literacy connection. Sesame Workshop has been at the forefront of SEL research, with decades of rigorous research backing their mission to help kids everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.
