We all have patients who present with temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Despite this, TMDs are among the least understood and most undertreated ailments in dentistry. Ignoring or mishandling a TMD can lead to case failures and frustrated patients. This webinar is designed as an overview of TMDs, from their initial presentation to management of the condition based on etiology. By adhering to the core principles taught in this webinar, restorative failures can be minimized while improving comfort levels, ultimately leading to patient satisfaction and referrals for the practitioner.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn the proper examination protocol for temporomandibular joints (TMJs) and recognize presenting signs/symptoms

2. Learn to differentiate between occlusal anomalies and how to determine if an occlusal problem is the cause or a symptom of the TMJ condition

3. Understand diagnostic testing, including MRI, CBCT, Doppler and what we can learn from each

4. Understand the multifactorial nature of orofacial pain

5. Identify management options (surgical and nonsurgical) for TMDs
