The following optional activities will be on offer during your visit to Sun City and you will be able to book these in advance on your registration profile where applicable. Please find the details of each activity and what can be expected – these will be opened for pre-booking closer to the event date. Please note that current costs are estimated, based on 2018 rates and therefore subject to change. These will be updated in due course once 2019 rates become available.

SUN CITY SAFARI & WILDLIFE 

Right on Sun City Resort’s doorstep is the Pilanesberg National Park. Book a safari tour and discover the Big 5 – Lion, African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Rhinoceros and Leopard. There are expert game rangers on hand to make sure you don’t miss a thing and can enjoy the comfort of a game-viewing vehicle on daily game drives or explore the Pilanesberg National Park on foot with a game ranger. 

Game Drives 



Set out on one of the most unique and exciting journeys of your life – this is your opportunity to safari through the spectacular landscape of the Pilanesberg National Park, situated within a 1,300 million year old extinct volcanic crater. Spanning over 55,000 hectares of rolling plains, the landscape is as much a feature as the wildlife itself. In addition to cheetah, giraffe, antelope, and hyaena – to name but a few – you will be enthralled by Africa’s famous Big Five in their natural habitat.

Bush Walks - Pilanesberg National Park

Our bush walk experience focuses on locating and observing the inhabitants of the Pilanesberg National Park from a different angle - on foot. Guests are accompanied by a registered guide who will share his/her extensive knowledge and experience on both fauna and flora along various hiking trails. Excursion depart daily in the early morning.

Family Bush Walks - Letsasing Game Park 

Our guided family walks gives the whole family a chance to explore Letsatsing Game Park on foot. It is a 700Ha reserve with plenty of wildlife such as Wildebeest, Impala, Sable antelope, Nyala and not forgetting all the smaller creatures, critters and bird life. Conducted daily, year round in the mornings at 07:00 and in the afternoon at 15:30. The tour will start from the Activity Hub where guests will commence on a 15 minute transfer to the middle of Letsatsing Game Park.

HOT AIR BALLOONING 


For that once in a lifetime experience, soar above the open savannah in a hot air balloon. Hot Air Balloon Safaris are offered every morning. Guests are collected at their hotel and taken through the park to rendezvous with the balloon crew. The flight is approximately an hour’s duration and on landing sparkling wine and orange juice is served. A leisurely game drive is then taken through the park to a game lodge where breakfast is served, after which guests are returned to their hotel.

GOLF AT GARY PLAYER OR THE LOST CITY GOLF COURSE 

Choose from two world-class golf courses both designed by a legend, Gary Player, and played by the biggest names in golf. 

The Gary Player Golf Course is an 18-hole par-72 walking-only championship course that is regularly ranked as one of the leading golf courses in South Africa. Please note: The Gary Player Country Club Golf Course is a strictly walking golf course – there are no carts available 

The strength of this golf course lies in the fact that it doesn’t favour any particular shot, and provides the same result whether playing the forward or intermediate tees. 8000 yards of golfing pleasure await each player with mesmerising views at every turn. 



The Lost City Golf Course offers a 72-par, 18-hole desert-style course that incorporates 28 000 square metres of water features and includes a water hazard at Hole 13 which is home to 38 live Nile crocodiles. 

This superlative golf course also offers players a distinctive region covered with a series of lakes that separate the 9th from the final hole. The 13th hole offers a green in the shape of the African continent, complete with a pond that is home to numerous Nile Crocodiles; adding to the true African appeal of this course.

ZIPLINING 

The ultimate adrenaline rush! Take off from a 280m high mountaintop and soar at speeds of 120km/h+ down our zip slide, the fastest of its kind in the world. This supersonic experience guarantees a four minute unadulterated adrenalin rush. 

Opened in 2004 Zip 2000 at Sun City is the world’s original extreme Zip Slide. For over six years it held the title of the world’s longest, highest and fastest zip slide. With an average speed of 120 km/h over two kilometres and reaching speeds up to 160km/h. It is still one of the world’s longest zip slides. There is a higher zip slide in Alaska, there’s a longer zip slide in South America. But to get the total thrill of speed, distance and varying heights above ground Zip 2000 is the ultimate and original experience.

LOST CITY MAZE 

The Maze of the Lost City at Sun City has been designed and constructed to resemble a semi-ruined Mayan stone maze and covers an area of 2200 square metres - A challenging experience and great fun for everyone.


















The Maze is reached by crossing a 90m long suspension bridge from the Sun City Entertainment Centre. The bridge is, itself has been carefully engineered for absolute safety and as you cross the suspension bridge you enjoy splendid views of the Palace of the Lost City, the Bridge of Time and the valley of the waves. Once you are in the Maze you will find the paths confusing, with many false trails that end in a blank stone wall. You backtrack and try again, only to be frustrated once more. Slowly you work your way through the Maze, sometimes even seeing the exit but unable to get to it. It’s more difficult than it seems!

VALLEY OF THE WAVES 



The Valley of Waves water park is Sun City’s legendary hub for all kinds of water fun. Offering family-friendly water activities that appeal to adventurers of all ages, there is something for everyone at this iconic Sun City water park. Both day visitors and Sun City Resort guests are invited to enjoy a full day of exciting activities, with a designated children’s area and lifeguards on duty. The main attraction at Valley of Waves is the Roaring Lagoon – a 6 500 square metre wave pool with hydraulic mechanisms that generate waves of nearly 2 metres high every 90 seconds.
