Dentists — physicians of the mouth — can help diagnose oral cancer early, which is essential to increase survival rates. Educating patients and performing advanced examinations only takes minutes. Early diagnosis and early treatment increase survival rates from approximately 40 percent to over 95 percent.

This webinar will equip oral health care providers with the knowledge to help reduce the mortality of oral cancer. Current research and findings also will be shared.

After learning examination techniques, AGD2018 course attendees will have the opportunity to examine patients at the oral cancer screening booth in New Orleans. In order to examine patients at AGD2018, dentists must be licensed in New Orleans; you must provide a copy of your dental practice license and proof of professional liability insurance valid through June 8, 2018 before participating in screening. The April 1 application deadline for out-of-state dentists has passed.

Learning objectives:
1. Learn advanced oral detection examination techniques.
2. Differentiate between normal and abnormal tissues.
3. Learn about current research.
4. Learn about available adjunctive devices for oral cancer screening.
5. Learn about ways to educate patients and increase public relations for your practice.
