Continuing Education Information:

Goal:  To educate oncology nurses and social workers in the process of fertility preservation in cancer patients.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to: 

  1. Describe the clinical scenarios in which fertility preservation is appropriate
  2. Explain the impact of cytotoxic agents on gonadal function and fertility potential
  3. Discuss the evolving and maturing technology of gamete and embryo freezing
  4. Discuss a practical approach for the earliest possible referral and maximizing a patient's reproductive potential after chemotherapy
  5. Describe the outcomes using contemporary oocyte, sperm and embryo freezing technologies including success after thawing and live birth rates 

Target Audience:   Oncology nurses and social workers at all levels and licensure, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with blood cancer.

Approval for nurses has been obtained by the National Office of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society under provider number CEP 5832 to award 1.0 continuing education contact hours through the California Board of Registered Nursing.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), provider #1105, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org  Approved Continuing Education Program (ACE). Approval Period: December 2017 - December 2020. LLS maintains responsibility for the program.  Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval.  Social workers will receive 1.0 CE clinical contact hours.

Upon completion of this program and submission of the activity evaluation, a certificate of completion will be emailed to you within 30 days.
