A Message from the Symposium Planning Committee

We proudly invite you to join us for Kaiser Permanente's Women in Medicine Symposium on June 29 & 30, 2018. The aim of the symposium is to provide our female and male physicians with skills and tools to promote physician well-being and to support and foster a more diverse and inclusive healthcare team. We are happy to announce that this year, the program will be spread over two days to allow for more networking and expanded content.

Friday afternoon’s program will be focused on developing skills to enhance leadership and communication. Women and men in medicine will learn how to foster and support a more diverse leadership team and explore how a better understanding of gender differences can improve communication and interactions with colleagues. Attendees will learn to bust the myths surrounding women in leadership. The program is open to current leaders, aspiring leaders and all physicians who lead from where they stand.

Saturday’s program will be a lively interactive session aimed at empowering male and female physicians with the strategies and tools to enhance personal well-being while addressing the specific challenges that women physicians face. Attendees will become aware of the manifestations of gender bias, which contribute to physician burnout, and learn techniques to mitigate the effects. Physicians will also learn tools to help focus on what energizes and motivates them and how to incorporate self-care strategies in their daily lives.

The symposium is also a great opportunity to network with Kaiser Permanente colleagues from around the region to share best practices, build relationships and instill a greater sense of community.

We hope to see you all there!
