Samuel Lussac

Samuel leads Wood Mackenzie’s Upstream research on Russia, overseeing a team of 8 analysts who publish 200+ reports per year on Russian oil and gas projects.

Samuel is responsible for establishing and fostering relationships with government and company representatives in country and regularly briefs clients and journalists on Russian oil and gas developments. He also works in collaboration with the Consulting team to advise clients (both governments and companies) on the Russian energy sector, including pipeline project financing, country entry strategy and fiscal policy.

Samuel has worked for Wood Mackenzie for 5 years in a range of Upstream research roles. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Samuel worked as a researcher for the Ministry of Defence in France. He has also worked as a Risk Consultant for GDF Suez (now Engie).

Samuel has a PhD in International Relations from the Institute of Political Science in Bordeaux. His PhD dissertation was on “Azerbaijan, hydrocarbons resources and pipelines. A sociotechnical analysis of regionalization” for which he was awarded the 2011 PhD award from the French Institute of High Studies on National Defence (IHEDN, Paris)
