Mark Church

Making Thinking Visible/Cultures of Thinking
Mark Church works with educators throughout the world striving to create cultures of thinking in their classrooms and schools. Mark challenges teachers to foster thinking dispositions in students in service of deep understanding. He invites teachers to promote a discourse of thinking in their classrooms that communicates value for student sense-making. Mark encourages teachers to make their classroom environments rich with the documents of student thinking processes.

Mark is currently a consultant with Harvard Project Zero’s Making Thinking Visible and Cultures of Thinking initiatives, drawing upon his own classroom teaching experience and from the perspectives, he has gained working with educators in various places throughout the world. Mark enjoys helping teachers examine opportunities for student thoughtfulness, use thinking routines as supports and scaffolds, interact with students in ways that demonstrate an interest in and respect for students’ thinking, and send clear expectations about the importance and value of thinking in learning.
Together with Ron Ritchhart and Karin Morrison, Mark is the co-author of the book Making Thinking Visible: How to Promote Engagement, Understanding, and Independence for All Learners (Jossey-Bass, 2011).
 
Maria Hersey

Dr. Maria Hersey is an internationally recognized educator with extensive experience in educational leadership, global education, social-emotional learning (SEL), curriculum design and global-mindedness.  As Founder and Principal Advisor for Global Education Advisors, Maria has traveled the world serving as an invited keynote speaker, school consultant and program evaluation expert. Her previous experience includes serving as the Director of Education & Training for The Hawn Foundation where she managed the evidence-based, social-emotional learning program, MindUP™. 

Prior to this, Dr. Hersey held several positions within the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) including that of Primary Years Program Regional Manager, Regional Development Specialist and PYP Curriculum Development Specialist. As an experienced educator with more than 20 years of experience in education, Maria has been dedicated to supporting educational excellence through her roles as an assistant principal, program coordinator, curriculum specialist and classroom teacher.

Dr. Hersey has been invited to present at a variety of conferences and workshops around the world on topics such as school leadership, social-emotional learning, concept-based curriculum, inquiry-based learning and global competency. She is currently serving as a Specialized Director for Magnet Schools of America.  Maria holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Florida Atlantic University where she also serves as an adjunct professor.
 
Tania Lattanzio
Director
Innovative Global Education
Tania Lattanzio is an experienced international educator and Director of Innovative Global Education. Previously she was a teacher, coordinator, and manager with the International Baccalaureate, she is now Director of Innovative Global Education. In her role as Director she works as an education consultant extensively in Asia Pacific and other parts of the world. This role involves developing and conducting professional development for teachers and leadership, modeling pedagogy in classrooms, developing and designing curriculum for schools and working intensively with teaching teams, through mentoring and coaching, to improve planning, teaching and assessment.  A passionate educator Tania works closely with educational institutions to specifically meet their needs in supporting school reform, making significant shifts in pedagogy and curriculum in both local and international settings.

Catlin Tucker

Catlin Tucker is a Google Certified Innovator, bestselling author, international trainer, and frequent Edtech speaker, who currently teaches in Sonoma County where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2010. Catlin’s books Blended Learning in Grades 4-12 and Blended Learning In Action are both bestsellers. She has also written a book titled Creatively Teach the Common Core Literacy Standards with Technology to support teachers in thinking outside of the box as they shift to a new set of standards.

Catlin is currently writing her fourth book titled Professional Learning for Blended Instruction to be published in early 2018. Catlin is working on her doctorate at Pepperdine University. Ian has published extensively in the field of education, with dozens of articles and chapters in national and international journals. He co-wrote Educating the More Able Student; What Works and Why for Sage and has spoken at over 100 national and world conferences.
