For much of history, the world's cloth was spun on a spindle, and spinners on the go often choose to make yarn on this simple tool. Learn to make your own yarn and continue the tradition. Discover some tricks to make spinning on a spindle easy. Spin singles in the morning and ply in the afternoon.

What is the difference between English long draw (double drafting) and American long draw? Both are woolen drafting methods, but there differences subtle and dramatic between them. We will spin wool and cotton both ways so that you can see the difference between the two techniques and add another drafting method to your spinning repertoire.

If you have always wanted to spin, have taught yourself, or haven't spun for a while, this class is for you! Discover the joy of creating your own yarn from scratch and making a truly custom project. We will spin carded and commercially prepared wool, ply, and set the twist. You will learn how to adjust a spinning wheel and keep it running smoothly.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Beginning spinning skills

Materials you are required to bring: Spinning Wheel, 3 bobbins, lazy kate & wool hand cards, I can bring a few wheels and hand cards since I live nearby

Technique: Spinning

Learn to prepare fiber to make just the yarn you want! There’s nothing like spinning wool you have prepared yourself, but the tools and techniques can be intimidating. Get to know combs, flickers, blending boards, and drumcarders. Fiber will be provided, but if you want to bring some of your stash please do so. Are you confused about how you should prepare your favorite fleece? Do you wonder why you might card some fibers, comb others, and what can you do with a flick carder? This class is for you.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Spinning skill required. Students should be able to spin a continuous yarn and be comfortable with their wheel.

Materials you are required to bring: Spinning wheel and all its parts, carders and combs if you have them
