The Geothermal Cross Over Technology Workshop part II

The AAPG and IGA wishes to connect the oil & gas to the geothermal sector and explore the synergy between the two to unravel the opportunities and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of both industries.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Partnerships between the oil & gas and geothermal sector are not rooted deeply yet, however now is the time to jointly develop a vibrant community of integrated research and development, information exchange, and creating value-based projects together. This joint community has the unique opportunity to leverage the experience of the oil & gas industry over the last century, share the technical knowhow on drilling geothermal prospects in deep and hot wells, innovate dual-play concepts, in order to put the vision of global policy makers to scale up geothermal development into action.

The workshop will offer a meeting point to two geo-energy communities where both technical and social aspects associated with subsurface energy exploration, development and production activities will be presented and discussed. It will provide case-study examples where geo-energy projects benefitted – or not – from an effective technology and knowledge transfer between different industries.

TECHNICAL SESSIONS

The workshop will focus on several technical themes ranging from Exploration, Production, Drilling, Well design, Geology... You can contribute to the success to this event by submitting your paper for oral or poster presentation on one or more of the following themes:

Theme 1: Pre-drill derisking of plays

Theme 2: Development of plays

Theme 3: Exploitation & Production

Theme 4: Integration & Synthesis

Theme 5: Case Studies

Theme 6: Deep Dinantian Carbonates

OUTCOME

Workshop participants will discuss and share experiences, best practices and knowledge to optimize performance by integrating O&G and geothermal technologies across exploration, development and production. This will provide a platform to accelerate and improve the quality of the geo-energy-transition.
