  1. Diagnose and treat geriatric patients presenting to our emergency department.
Toxicology in the ED
  1. Diagnose and treat patients with a toxicological exposure or ingestion in an effective and timely manner.
Eye Emergencies
  1. Apply a systematic approach to common ophthalmologic complaints presenting to the Emergency Department, including eye pain, the “red eye,” and vision loss.
  2. Identify important signs and symptoms of serious and urgent ophthalmologic conditions
Medications EPs Need to Know
  1. Describe and use certain medications which are important in the Emergency Department.
Advanced ECG
  1. Interpret ECG findings
  2. Recognize important ECG findings
Ophthalmology Skills Simulation Workshop with Slit Lamb and US Machines and Simulation Mannequin

  1. Use the slit lamp and other ophthalmological tools to diagnose emergencies of the eye.
  2. Perform certain emergent ophthalmological procedures.
  3. Diagnose and treat patients presenting to the Emergency Department with a critical condition.
  4. Perform certain lifesaving procedures.
  5. Describe and use techniques for assessing the critical patient using the ultrasound machine.
  6. Use the ultrasound machine to aid in diagnosing a patient with an eye problem at the bedside (Point of Care) in the ED.
Updates in Emergency Medicine: Reflections and Musings from CAL/ACEP President
  1. Understand how the current healthcare landscape impacts Emergency Medicine and the care of the Emergent patient.
  2. Identify key issues affecting emergency medicine
