Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• How to prepare all pieces of metal
  • Enamel caps or the main lantern with a Raku finish
  • Students will learn how to light the lantern




Light your path to creativity with The Lantern Pendant. Spend a full-day crafting a lantern, while combining several different techniques including Raku enameling, etching, metal stamping and simple soldering. Create a one-of-a-kind focal piece that will shed light on your personal style, be it hung in your home or close to your heart. With just a simple twist, you'll be able to cast a glow out into the world. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Students should feel comfortable working with a torch, very small details, and multiple processes at once. Watching Steven's FREE Basic Torch Enameling video at macaroniandglitter.com/videos will help support this class experience

Materials you are required to bring: No personal tools needed! Simply show up and be ready to create something special. All tools and materials are provided in class. Steven allows you to "capture the class" with smartphone video - so please bring your cameras. Please note these student-made tutorials are intended for personal use only. If you have challenges working with and seeing small components, please bring your magnification tools.

The Raindrop Pendant is lovely to look at and equally fun to make. Come learn how to make one of Steven's newest creations - learning the secret tools and techniques beyond the beautiful pendant. A cluster of color and creativity await you in this class with solid forecast of fabulousness! You WILL complete this project in class.

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• How to create etched designs in their metal
  • Wet pack enamels into etched designs
  • Finish the designs using a variety of sanding tools




Take your torch-enameling skills in a new direction with the Champleve technique by capturing opaque glass in recessed areas of etched copper. Come and learn how easy it is to create custom pieces that reflect your personal style; the only French you'll need to know for this session is “tres magnifique!” Steven will show you how to etch your design, while learning the ins-and-outs of wet packing your enamels. The final process is devoted to finishing off your design. Take home beautiful samples to keep perfecting your new skill! This year, Steven has made this class even easier - no personal tools or torches needed. Simply come to class and immerse yourself into these techniques! You WILL complete this project in class.

  • Construct the project using cold connections




Are you ready to dive into Steven's newest series of classes? Come work with wire and color as you explore the look of his new pendant that he is playfully calling, “Jellies”. You'll learn how to form the metal, enamel both the copper and the fine silver wire and then pull it all together into your finished pendant. Steven will also introduce alternative—non-fired—ways to color the metal components. You WILL complete this project in class.
