• Basic enameling skills using a torch

In this class, you will learn to torch fire copper pieces using a HotHead. First will be the process of torching tubular beads. In the second half you will do flat pieces, headpins and spheres by a dipping method. In this class you can make as many pieces as time allows. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: The ability to work with both hands and know basic safety skills of a using a torch. Must be 18

Materials you are required to bring: 1 canister of Mapp gas (yellow canister; available at most hardware or home improvement stores), safety glasses, a welder’s apron (not required). Must wear cotton clothing.

Learn the basics of bead crocheting from a patient, nationally recognized instructor and author. Students will learn how to string-on your beads and the start to crocheting your bracelet, hold your thread properly, add thread, avoid and correct problems, and go home knowing how to start your next project. Students will also learn how to finish their piece in several different ways, including a focal bead closure, lariat closure, cone and invisible join closures. Students get to choose 1 kit from the 3 that are offered. A designer polymer clay focal bead and enamel accent beads are included in each kit. You WILL NOT complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Some crocheting and/or bead crocheting experience is helpful

Ever wonder what to do with that beautiful, odd-shaped stone? Ever wanted to set a beautiful stone with a natural edge but didn’t know how? This is the class for you! And you’ll put your design skills to use in this unique class. Students will learn how to make prongs from wire and soldering them down. You’ll learn how to integrate prongs and partial bezels to set a stone with a natural edge. You’ll also get to make rain drops and learn how to solder them on so they DON’T fall off. You’ll dome a disk and insert it into a hole you’ll drill in your cabochon and learn how to set a small 6mm cab as well as proper stamping techniques and various texturing techniques and finishing. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Silver soldering, filing, sawing, texturing

Materials you are required to bring: Cabochon with at least one natural side (Instructor will have some for sale at time of class), Bench Block, Rawhide mallet, Files,
Scribe (awl), Straight edge, Jeweler’s saw w/#2/0 blades, Sharpie, Bench Pin, Jewelers saw w/#2/0 blades, Diagonal cutting pliers. Also, if possible, cross lock tweezers. Suggested but not required: Stamps, Brass brush, Texturing hammers, Brass mallet, Burnisher (bezel pusher) Round Mandrel Pliers (like Wubber’s)

Make a stunning pendant that features a set stone. Learn a variety of essential metalsmiting skills, including sawing a metal shape using a jeweler's saw, creating a shadowbox effect using square wire and setting a cabochon stone. Students will use copper in class to create their pieces. Students will leave class with 1-2 finished pendants. You WILL complete this project in class.

Learn the fundamentals of soldering Argentium silver and sterling silver metals with expert Janet Alexander, who has over 40 years of experience in soldering. In this class you will make a wide-flared band ring with your choice of spinner. Learn about the pros and cons of working in Argentium metal, annealing processes, solder types, sizing a ring, creating a spinner for the ring, flaring techniques, using a torch and fast finishing techniques to save time. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Know how to saw metal with a jeweler's saw

We will discuss all the basics and safety, then you will get hands on experience in torching and soldering silver and jump rings. Although you do not need any experience some wire work is helpful. You WILL complete this project in class.

Hoops never go out of style. Why not make your very own? This is a great wire class for beginners. If you have never done anything with wire and have wanted to learn, now is the chance. You will learn to make this versatile pair of embellished triple hoop earrings and how to use the tools to do so. Take the leap into wire working and you will come away with a great pair of hoops you’ll be proud of wearing! You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: With wire wrapping, your hands are your tools throughout the majority of the project. The ability and strength to hold your project for long periods of time while leveraging against them and good dexterity are a must. Must have the ability to feel comfortable working with fine wire and multiple wires at one time. This is considered a beginning class, but is open to all skill levels. No previous wire experience is necessary.

Materials you are required to bring: Please bring a bead mat or work surface, a bead tray if you want to separate your beads, chain nose pliers, round nose pliers, wire cutters, and a ruler or measuring tape. A task lamp and extension cord are not required but are highly recommended.

Working in CRAW (cubic right angle weave) for this bracelet design, creates individual components that hold a cushion cut Swarovski stone, which sits on top the component, enclosed around a bezel of seed beads and Swarovski crystals. You will join each component and attached with a hidden clasp "belting" your wrist. You WILL NOT  complete this project in class.

This popular class fills up quickly! Bring a funky piece of bark and whittle it down to create the model for your piece. You will make a mold you can use again to transfer your design to silver. Granulation the metal-clay-way is clean, professional and stress free. This time we will gypsy-set a couple tiny faceted stones for a little sparkle. If you bring a 20 or 22 inch sterling chain, a patina can be added. The chain in the photo is a popcorn chain. Every piece looks different and exciting. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Good hand-eye coordination, ability to work with small objects

Working with copper sheeting you will design a stamped, and textured back plate to highlight your Druzy. You will learn the basics of enameling on copper, and how to add a fine silver bezel setting into your enameled piece. You will choose the color of your Druzy, as well as enamel colors to highlight your design. To finish your piece you will patina/color the sheet, rivet the enamel bezel, and add a leather cord with accent beads to create an elegant, and earthy necklace. * There will be vegan cord options* You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Students will learn the skills necessary to create this jewelry piece during their time in class.Students should feel comfortable with the idea of working with fire, but no torch firing experience is needed. Students will learn to create a tab setting to set a cabochon in a niobium pendant. Cut your shape from niobium with metal shears or a jeweler's saw. File and sand to prepare the pendant for anodizing. Attach a created bail by riveting. Anodize it with your chosen colors before securing the cabochon. You WILL  complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Some experience with metal work would be helpful

Stacking multiple bracelets is very fashion forward and more interesting if the bracelets are different in some way. Add some interest to your stack of bracelets with this woven cuff. Whether it is one of many on your wrist or just the one, you decide. Using techniques typically seen in textiles and basketry, you will fill your cuff with intricate woven patterns which will bring your simple cuff to life with texture and interest. The Stackable Cuff Bracelet is a great beginning weaving class to learn the techniques for future wire weaving classes. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: With wire wrapping, your hands are your tools throughout the majority of the project. The ability and strength to hold your project for long periods of time while leveraging against them and good dexterity are a must. Must have the ability to feel comfortable working with fine wire and multiple wires at one time. This is considered a beginning class, but is open to all skill levels. No previous wire experience is necessary.

Learn to sculpt and add dimension as you weave, all while making this stunning bracelet. In this class, I will be teaching the method, but each student will have the freedom to find their own path and add their own personality as they sculpt their woven strips to create an organic free-formed bracelet. They will learn how to add in extra wires where needed and how to use their fingers instead of tools to achieve better results. Because of the amount of weaving required in this class the students will have to finish at home. Students can choose how much they want to further embellish the bracelet with varying sizes of beads to accentuate their finished design. You WILL NOT complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: It is highly recommended that students come to class familiar with wire weaving. Their bracelet will come out better if they do.

In this one-day work shop, you’ll learn the following skills: how to anneal metal, soldering Argentium silver, stone setting a cabochon stone, drilling a hole through a stone, connecting stones together by riveting the top bezel to the bottom setting using round wire, creating an adjustable band, how to work with Argentium Silver, texturing metal, and using a reciprocating hammer to set stones. In this class, you will learn the techniques for transforming hardware store wire into a beautiful and unique cuff. You will hammer a heavy gauge wire flat and weave beads between multiple wires to create a beautiful wire cuff bracelet. When all of your beads have been added to the cuff, we will work on shaping your cuff to fit you comfortably. This class combines many beginner skills to create a piece that looks anything but beginner level. The final appearance can be changed by the beads that are placed in the channels of the bracelet.You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: With wire wrapping, your hands are your tools throughout the majority of the project. The ability and strength to hold your project for long periods of time while leveraging against them and good dexterity are a must. Must have the ability to feel comfortable working with fine wire and multiple wires at one time. This is considered a beginning class, but is open to all skill levels. No previous wire experience is necessary.

Materials you are required to bring: Chasing hammer, bench block, some type of noise cancelling pad (sand bag, bean bag, mat), memory wire cutters or heavy duty wire cutters, round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, ruler or measuring tape, bead tray or mat, a pair of ear plugs, sturdy file. Optional: an individual light source and extension cord are not required but are highly recommended, a ring clamp to help hold your work if you have hand strength issues.

From niobium sheet, cut a pair of disks with circle cutouts. File, sand and anodize them in your favorite color. Anodize 28-gauge niobium wires, weave a net within the disk and finish off with a colorful feather created with lucite and alcohol inks. If you prefer, the feathers can be cut from niobium and anodized. You WILL  complete this project in class.
