We invite you to contribute your scientific work to the HIMSS Saudi Scientific Conference 2018, which is to be the premiere gathering for health informatics practitioners, innovators, and health information technology companies in Saudi Arabia, GCC and the MENA region. The scientific conference will be held in Riyadh, October 7 to 11, 2018, and we look forward to all scientific submissions and contributions within Saudi Arabia, regionally, and internationally.

Under the overall theme of Reimagining Healthcare in Saudi Arabia, the scientific track of the conference will build upon the experiences and innovative research developed by local researchers and professional in addressing the goals of the Saudi National Transformation Plan and Vision 2030. Regional and international research work and practical experiences in healthcare transformation using information
technologies are highly encouraged and welcomed.

Topics of interest span a wide spectrum of subjects that are relevant to this year’s theme and are inclusive of the following:

• 2030 Visionary Innovation in Healthcare Transformation
• Disruptive Technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Precision Medicine)
• Digital Health Education, Career Development and Workforce Needs
• Consumer Empowerment/Prosumer Health Technologies
• E-Health Leadership and Benefit Realization
• Cybersecurity and Blockchain Technologies
• Local Stories of Ehealth Innovation Startups

The 2018 HIMSS Saudi scientific conference will consider the following types of submission. Each accepted submission will be presented in the form of posters or oral presentations during HIMSS Saudi 2018. We also welcome industry and local startup submissions.

I – Research Abstracts

Participants are invited to submit any original research work related to HIMSS themes that were done in university or industry and has not been published elsewhere. The abstract must be written and presented in English. All Abstracts should contain Introduction, Methodology, result and discussion sections and it should be between 200 and 250 words. Submitted work will undergo a peer review by experts in the specific domain area.

II – Vision Abstracts

Participants are invited to submit vision abstracts which are well constructed ideas, thoughts, and/or statements about the future of Saudi Healthcare and how technological innovation will help achieve the goals of the 2020 National Transformation Plan (NTP) and Vision 2030. A vision abstract must contain a description of a technology and how the technology will transform Saudi healthcare practice and fulfill the goals of either the 2020 NTP or Vision 2030. The vision abstract does not adhere to the general structured headings provided in a structured abstract. The abstract submitted should be between 250 and 300 words. All vision abstracts will be reviewed by relevant experts in the specific domain area.

III – Technology Demonstrations

Participants are invited to submit technology demonstration abstracts which will showcase an information technology (e.g., mobile app or web-platform) created to improve or have an impact on overall healthcare services. The technology demonstration abstract does not adhere to the general structured headings provided in a structured abstract. However, the abstract should discuss the following: motivation for the creation of the technology, its applicability in a healthcare setting, and should explain the technology’s functionality, features, novelty, and innovativeness. The abstract submitted should be between 250 and 300 words. All technology demonstrations abstracts will be reviewed by relevant experts in the specific domain area.
