FIDI 67th Annual Conference San Diego

The FAIM Coordination Centre welcomes you to the 2018 FIDI Conference

Following the success of last year's workshops, the FAIM Coordination Centre (FCC) will again be holding three separate workshops at the 2018 FIDI Conference, on current and relevant subjects such as Data Protection and GDPR.

SESSION 1 / Monday 26th March (14:00-16:00)

> Topic: FAIM Data (Privacy) Protection and the relation to the EU GDPR

Data and Privacy Protection is currently a major focus point on the international stage. You might be aware that the EU GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) will come into force as from May 2018, and will have far-reaching consequences. But did you know that, even if your company is not based in Europe, this international regulation will impact your operations as well? And are you sure that your company is fully compliant with FAIM Data & Privacy Protection requirements?

In this two-hour workshop, John Prooij, FIDI’s Quality & Risk Project Manager, will give you some valuable and sector-specific insights into how to adapt your operations to FAIM requirements and international laws related to Data and Privacy Protection, and how the FAIM Quality Programme is adapting to this evolution by introducing new key Data Privacy elements in FAIM 3.2.

The session will be divided in two parts:
  • Part 1: Current FAIM 3.1 audit requirements related to Data (Privacy) Protection & outlook on FAIM 3.2 changes
The first part of the workshop will focus on current FAIM 3.1 audit requirements specifically related to Data (Privacy) Protection, and the main difficulties the auditors identified during previous FAIM 3.1 audits. John will also provide an outlook on FAIM 3.2 key changes related to this topic.
  • Part 2: EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU-GDPR)
The second part of the workshop will go beyond the FAIM scope and will tackle the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its effect on the international moving industry. The EU GDPR is considered the most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years, and will have a considerable impact on the way we consider and process personal data. We will zoom in on the key changes and give you practical tips on how to prepare your company for this big change.

SESSION 2 / Tuesday 27th March (10:00-12:00)
> Topic: Internal FAIM Audit

The concept of the yearly Internal FAIM Audit was incorporated into the FAIM 3.1 Quality Standard as a FAIM pre-requisite following the General Assembly in Cape Town, 2015. Implemented in April 2017, the FCC developed a tailor-made Digital Platform to facilitate the process. This has been very well received by the Affiliates who have performed their Internal FAIM Audit for the first time in 2017.

Based on the lessons learned during the first year of its implementation, Isabel Chillopa from the FCC will zoom in on the “How” and “Why” of the Internal FAIM Audit, and will provide you with some practical tips on how to make the best out of it.

Lastly, we will show you how your company can take advantage of the new yearly "Quality Assurance Certificate" for your own quality branding!

SESSION 3 / Wednesday 28th March Session (14:00-16:00)
> Topic: FAIM Development

This session will give you an overview and insight into the potential new developments and key changes that will be incorporated into the next FAIM 3.2 Standard, effective as from January 2019.
