The NASA Stennis Space Center Office of Education is providing a 5-hour educator professional development STEM workshop.

Technology Drives Exploration: NASA Technology and Engineering Design Challenges

Date: November 16, 2017

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. CT (30-minute lunch)

Audience: In-service, pre-service, home school and informal STEM educators of grades 4-8

Location: Infinity Science Center (Map); Classroom B (upstairs)

 

Join us for an activity-filled technology and engineering workshop highlighting NASA’s past and present cutting-edge space exploration missions. NASA STEM engineering design challenges and apps will be explored. So, bring your smart phones or tablets and prepare to be amazed!  Activities presented will be aligned to Next Generation Science Standards Disciplinary Core Ideas in Engineering, Technology and the Application of Science.


Online pre-registration is required to participate.

Registration will be limited to 30 educators.

Registration will close November 12, 2017 (or, when 30 educators are registered).

CEU's will be offered for 5.0 hours of attendance.



 






 

Steve Culivan is the NASA STEM Education Professional Development Collaborative Specialist at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. Mr. Culivan develops and provides NASA STEM online and face-to-face professional development programs for in-service, pre-service and informal educators. Mr. Culivan was the Principal Investigator for two International Space Station (ISS) in-flight education demonstrations. He additionally developed and co-developed several NASA curriculum products. Prior to his current twenty-eight year career with NASA Education, Mr. Culivan taught middle school Earth and Space Science, life science, English, art and coached several sports. He holds a current Louisiana teaching certificate in science and English. Mr. Culivan received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Louisiana Tech University and a Masters of Science degree in Education from Oklahoma State University.
