Q. What happens if I sign up for the Helping Hands program but don’t complete the required 10 hours of service?

A. If you are unable to fulfill your convention commitment, your credit card will be charged the variance between full registration and the Helping Hands registration.

Q. I want to volunteer for the Helping Hands program but can’t attend the orientation and training on Tuesday, August 22. Can I still participate?

A. No, you would not be able to participate in the Helping Hands program. You can still volunteer at the convention, but you will not receive the Helping Hand benefits. If you believe you have special circumstances please email meetingplanning@toastmasters.org.

Q. Are we required to wear any special clothing during our shift?

A. The general attire for convention events is business casual. We want you to be comfortable in your own clothing, especially your shoes! We will provide a custom convention vest to wear over your own clothes while you are volunteering. This will help attendees to easily identify you as someone who can help them and it has pockets for storing personal items! Bonus: You get to keep this vest!

Are any meals included in the Host District Helping Hands Program?          

A. Meals are not included. However, you can purchase a networking lunch package and a ticket to the President’s Inauguration and Celebration dinner when you register. There are also several casual eateries such as McDonalds, Tim Hortons and low-cost restaurants in the surrounding area.

Q. Is parking reimbursable?


A. No, we are unable to reimburse for parking expenses. The parking rate for Toastmasters International is $30 CAD per day. For more information about parking please click here.

Q. Do I have to register for the convention to volunteer?

. Yes, in order to volunteer at the convention you will need to purchase the discounted Helping Hands registration package.

Q. What if I register and then I am unable to attend?

Cancellations are accepted until Monday, July 10, 2017, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Cancellations will not be accepted after this date.
