Legal aid conference 2017

With the Scottish Government’s call for evidence for their legal aid review now closed, legal aid practitioners – and users – face something of an uncertain time as we await the publication of the report in February 2018.

In the Law Society of Scotland’s view, access to justice through legal aid is a critical element of our justice system and is vital for not only the rule of law but also social justice. We believe that the current changes within the wider court and justice system provides an opportunity for legal aid to be modernised and enhanced.

The Legal Aid conference sets out to get you up to speed with the latest developments, ready for any other changes that may come into force following the report next year. It will provide technical guidance and explore how new services can enhance processes for you and your client, as well as the opportunity to discuss the structure of the Children’s Hearing System and changes in legislation.

The agenda for our 2017 legal aid conference has been developed in association with the Scottish Legal Aid Board.
