Detroit, MI 48226

Thursday August 24, 2017 from 4:30pm-9:00pm.

The future belongs to the young. Plastics News and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) will celebrate this – along with a little history – by hosting a new gala event.

“The Future Is Plastics” will recognize innovation in manufacturing as well as the accomplishments of rising young professionals. This event will feature special presentations, a reception to toast SPE’s 75th anniversary and a chance to meet many veteran and young leaders in the plastics industry.

Highlights at "The Future Is Plastics" includes special presentations from Saber Haidous, senior manager of global purchasing and supply chain at General Motors Co., and Christina Keller, president of the Cascade Business Team at injection molder Cascade Engineering. Keller was named a Rising Star by Plastics News in 2016. Plastics News will recognize the incoming class of Rising Stars.

Plastics News will also recognize its incoming class of Rising Stars. This will be the fourth class of Rising Stars, professionals in the plastics industry under 40 years old who are already contributing significantly to their respective organizations.

The welcome reception will begin at 4:30 p.m. and a cocktail reception will conclude the evening.

The city of Detroit is the ideal location for this event. Detroit is the birthplace of SPE and remains home to its largest membership chapter. In addition, Detroit is the headquarters for Plastics News and its parent company, Crain Communications Inc.
