This hands on workshop offers many foundational techniques from filling hollow bezel forms with photo text, foil and layering of materials. You WILL  complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: None

Materials you are required to bring: Please bring- round needle and chain nose pliers, scissors, tin scissors- Please bring an image if you would like

Level: Beginner Description of Workshop Levels
Technique: Resin


In this workshop, start by focusing on hand-making a sterling silver bezel by braising a simple open back bezel form using gallery wire. Learn practical metalworking skills in brazing, filing, sanding and finishing to create a small open form bezel of traditional bezel wire. Later, focus and build with resin using multiple thin layers while learning new techniques and application for scratching, crackling, engraving, transferring of imagery, making marks and coloring surface. Add resin, foil, tints and learn sgraffito techniques. Learn proper mixing, application, combining and pouring layers and safety tips. This hands-on workshop offers many foundational techniques from filling hollow bezel forms with photo text, foil and layering of materials. Finish an extraordinary pendant. You WILL  complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: None

Materials you are required to bring: Please bring- pliers-round needle nose, chain nose, and wire snips. Burnishing tool, sandpaper, and metal file. Photos, pictures images dried flowers.

Challenge what is commonly held notions of what is considered jewelry. Gain knowledge of my studio style, tools and techniques for altering sheet metal and incorporating personal mementos and found objects to create wearable works of art. Learn metal techniques such as hand hammering, shaping, stamping, finishing and a variety of oxidizing methods. Add color, layer and style to your metalwork. Learn personal methods, formulas and techniques for altering, patterning and coloring the surface of sheet metal. Work with handmade traditional and nontraditional formulas to create colorful patinas and emulate artifacts from a lost civilization. Build dimensional pieces by dapping, folding, forming and cold join manipulation. Use these altered metal pieces to build a unique charm bracelet. Jewelry techniques include clean up, polishing, design, color and layout of ideas. You WILL  complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Basic metalworking knowledge

Materials you are required to bring: ESSENTIAL TOOLS- tin snips, wire snips, needle nose and chain nose pliers, small hammer, anvil,anvil pillow, metal file, Optional- beads, tin scraps, found or small precious objects.
