Level: Beginner Description of Workshop Levels
Technique: Basics,Polymer Clay,Wire Work

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Forming organic natural hearts using natural materials
Adding metal bails and decor into polymer clay
  • Properly curing polymer clay

In this workshop you will learn to take white polymer clay, form it using minimal tools and natural materials, to create two different stone like hearts. One heart will have wire wings and inclusions, so you can learn to add them securely to your pieces, and the other will have no bail added before baking. I will demo and explain how to properly cure you clay as well. We will then be painting the pieces using alcohol inks, acrylic paint and a crackle medium to give them a natural appearance. Once the beads are done, the piece with wire bails / wings will have chain added and a clasp to form a simple but bold necklace. The second will use wire to create a bail, and then will have chain added. You make two necklaces in this class. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Having used wire before and wire wrapped loops are helpful but not necessary

Materials you are required to bring: Wire cutters (flush cutters preferred), round nose pliers, chain nose pliers and flat nose pliers, polymer work surface, (plastic or tile), 2 paint brushes: one medium /large flat brush and one medium round brush, items for natural textures like shells, rocks and bark, needle tool
