Level: Intermediate Description of Workshop Levels
Technique: Silversmithing,Soldering,Stone Setting - Cabochon,Wire Weaving,Wire Work

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Setting a cabochon
  • Basic soldering
  • Wire weaving

Learn to merge a variety of jewelry making techniques while crafting this magical pendant. Students will employ soldering skills to fashion the focal piece for the middle of the pendant, and then use wires to shape, forge and weave a beautiful frame around it. Students will work with templates and jigs to help with symmetry. You WILL  complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Must have some wire-weaving experience and soldering experience will be helpful

Materials you are required to bring: Flush wire cutters, chain nose pliers, round nose pliers, flat nose pliers, vinyl nose pliers, fine cut metal file, needle tool, ruler, blue masking tape, recommended: task light, magnification, and work mat.

Technique: Weaving,Wire Weaving,Wire Work

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Keeping even tension to weave uniform ribbons
  •Shaping woven wires
  • Exploring various weave patterns

Explore various weaving patterns as you work on completing this showy ring. This class will focus on skills needed to create uniform weaves and on learning ways of shaping woven ribbons into bump-free graceful bends and curves. Students will follow step-by-step instructions for making the ring, and also be given ideas for customizing the design. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Should have some wire-weaving experience

Materials you are required to bring: Flush wire cutters, chain nose pliers, needle tool, ruler (12 inches or longer), medium tip permanent marker, blue masking tape (1 in or 3/4 in is best) Recommended: task light, magnification, and work mat.

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• The basic weave
  • Ring sizing
  • Large gauge wires

Expand your wire skills as you discover the art of making wire-woven rings. The class will focus on understanding the basic construction and design of a wire-woven ring, and will explore techniques for proper ring sizing. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Some experience with wire-weaving will be helpful

Materials you are required to bring: Pliers: (chain nose, nylon jaw), flush wire cutters, ruler, medium tip permanent market, needle tool, blue masking tape (1in or 3/4in is best), recommended: task light, magnification, and work mat. Following tools will be provided for sharing but students can bring their own as well: (ring mandrel, plastic or raw hide hammer).

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Basic weaves
  • Working with square wire
  • Exploring various weave patterns




Use a combination of wire-weaving and other wire techniques to create this fun bracelet. Students will be introduced to the basic weave and its variations. Students will have an option to work with square wire. Techniques learned in this class are the basis for creating bracelets of different widths and various designs. You WILL  complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Some wire-weaving experience will be helpful

Technique: Weaving,Wire Weaving,Wire Work,Wire Wrapping

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Basic wire weaves
  • Working with large gauge wire
  • Balling up wire ends

Use simple wire-wrapping and weaving techniques to create this special necklace. Place your small treasures –stones or other small objects – inside the basket of wires to make this an heirloom piece. In this class, students will learn simple wire skills and be introduced to basic weaving techniques. The instructor will demonstrate using a butane torch to draw beads on the ends of wires. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Some wire skills will be helpful

Technique: Metalwork,Wire Work

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Using various pliers to form wire
  • Wire forging
  • Connecting links

Turn your scrap wire into beautiful chains! Learn to make several different wire shapes that can be joined together to create necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Students will use various pliers to turn short pieces of wire into 5-6 different links plus a hook clasp. Simple wire forging will also be introduced. Students will create several links of each shape to learn the techniques so that they can easily finish the chains on their own after class. You WILL NOT complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Familiarity with wire tools will be helpful

Materials you are required to bring: Pliers: (chain nose, bent nose, round nose, flat nose), flush wire cutters, fine tooth flat or half round metal file, small steel block, small flat or slightly rounded hammer, fine tip permanent marker, recommended: (task light, magnification, work mat). The following tools will be available for student's to share in class but students can also bring their own if they wish: (different sizes of looping or bail making pliers, 1.25mm or 1.5mm hole punching pliers)..

Create this beautiful pendant using simple wire weaving and wire shaping techniques. Students will be given precise instruction on how to create the pendant from start to finish, but will also be encouraged to customize the finishing touches in order to create a one-of-a-kind piece.You WILL complete this project in class.
