Technique: Enameling

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Students will learn how to clean the metal and apply a proper base coat of enamel
  Students will learn how to apply watercolor enamel and graphite to get designs
  • Different firing techniques

Explore the endless possibilities that enameling jewelry can bring to light! Enameling is the process of fusing glass to metal and creates texture and color that can transform your jewelry. Jessica will cover the proper way to clean and prepare metals. We will use different kinds of enamels such as powder, liquid, and watercolor. Techniques covered will be sifting, wetpacking, stencil, sgraffito and painting with liquids. Students will come out with a variety of samples to make pendants and earrings. You WILL complete this project in class.
