Alex de Ruijter is a product manager at CGE Risk Management Solutions. He is part of the team that develops the BowTieXP and BowTieServer software products. He also conducts training sessions with clients worldwide in barrier based risk management and incident analysis. Alex is also pursuing a PhD at the Delft University of Technology in the area of barrier monitoring.

Dr Ismail graduated from the faculty of Medicine University of Tripoli in January 1990. He started his training in endocrinology in the main teaching endocrine unit in Tripoli in 1993 and completed his training in Endocrinology in St. Bartholomew’s Endocrine department and its associated hospitals in Northeast London, obtaining the certifications of the United Kingdom Postgraduate Medical Board. Dr Ismail is also certified by the Arab and the Libyan Boards of medical specialisation.

Dr Ismail was a lecturer in Endocrinology in Queen Mary School of Medicine and Dentistry in London and Consultant & Head of Endocrine department at Darent Valley hospital in Kent, UK before joining the Endocrine Department in Al Ain hospital in September 2014 and he is currently the head of the Endocrine department in Al Ain Hospital. Dr Ismail is the chairperson of the Mortality &Morbidity committee in Al Ain hospital.

Dr Ismail has been active in the field of Endocrinology for 24 years and his clinical interests include the use of Insulin pumps and new technologies in the treatment of diabetes, Endocrine hypertension, thyroid cancer and the disorders calcium metabolism. Dr Ismail is active in medical education and he is currently a core faculty member for the internal medicine residency programme in Al Ain hospital. He is also actively involved in clinical research and he was a site investigator for ADDRESS, JUMP and TITAN trials.

Dr. Ibrahim is an Adjunct Business Faculty (Assistant Professor) Geneva Business School (GBS), KSA-Campus for Master of Healthcare Management and MBA in Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Khobar and Bahrain. Dr. Abdalla Ibrahim is a Healthcare Quality Expert, Certified Healthcare Surveyor & Accreditation Specialist by Accreditation Canada. He is coaching governmental and private healthcare organizations in Bahrain and KSA for Accreditation and Quality Improvement.

Dr. Ibrahim is an experienced international conference speaker, presenter and organizer of education and training for leaders, senior & young professionals plus establishing educational and training curriculum. Dr. Ibrahim is originally a family doctor practicing medicine since 1996 and he is a member of Primary Healthcare Accreditation Committee of Ministry of Health Bahrain, an Individual Networking Partner Member of European Organization for Quality, member of Bahrain Quality Society, Bahrain Health & Safety Society and finally, Bahrain Management Society. He is a Community Speaker in Rotary Act Clubs & Specialty Societies.

Previously, he worked as a Health and Community Development Adviser to International NGO (Plan-International, Egypt).

Dr. Nicolas has more than 20 years of excellent clinical and academic experiences within and outside UAE. She has been working as the manager of the Clinical Risk Management, Quality & Patient Safety Institute of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi since August 2016. He served as the Senior Quality Officer for 7 years with Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and 6 year with Centre de Recherche du CHUL. He also worked as Associate Professor, Neuro-immunology Unit of the Molecular Medicine Department of the Faculty of Medicine, Laval University, Quebec City, Canada from 2007-2013.

Samer Ellahham has served as Chief Quality Officer for SKMC since 2009. In his role, Dr. Ellahham has led the development of a quality and safety program that has been highly successful and visible and has been recognized internationally by a number of awards. As Chief Quality Officer and Global Healthcare Leader, he has a focus on ensuring that that implementation of this best practices leads to breakthrough improvements in clinical quality and patient safety.

He is the recipient of the Quality Leadership Award from the World Quality Congress and Awards and the Business Leadership Excellence Award from World Leadership Congress in 2015. Khalid is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management. He comes to SEHA Corporate Office from a 4 years’ experience as a member of the Quality & Risk Management Team at Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi (2008-12). He brings with him great passion for Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, a passion which was nurtured and strengthened for more than 20 years spent working in healthcare. He also brings with him paradigms, tools, frameworks and evidence based learning acquired during the Healthcare Quality & Safety Master of Science from the Institute of Leadership at the Royal College of Surgeon in Ireland which he completed with a First Class Honors (2009-2011).

Maya Mallat Yassine is a doctoral fellow at the Grenoble Ecole de Management in France, expected to graduate in 2017. Her research project is centered on the importance of learning from patient safety events, with a special focus on near misses. Maya has over 15 years’ experience in clinical risk management, quality improvement and patient safety within international healthcare organizations. She is currently the Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety Manager at Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), which is the largest healthcare network in the UAE, operating 12 hospitals, 62 ambulatory and primary healthcare centres, with a combined total of more than 17,000 professional staff. Maya is in charge of developing, overseeing and coordinating a corporate clinical risk management program to support SEHA’s endeavour to provide high quality services while mitigating risks, maintaining business continuity and safeguarding the organization.

Prior to joining the SEHA team, Maya managed the Customer Protection Unit and the Quality Improvement Department at the Centre for Healthcare Planning and Quality, which regulates the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), the world’s largest healthcare free zone.

Maya is a seasoned professional with a proven ability to lead change and continuously improve the quality, patient safety and performance of hospitals and health systems. She has a track record in leading and working with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams to develop and implement effective healthcare strategies with demonstrated outcomes.

Nawal Khattabi is the Risk Manager at Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), a healthcare organization that oversee 23 Health Centers across Qatar serving the whole population of the state. Nawal is leading the Risk Management and Patient Safety Programs and is a recognized leader in Systems Safety having led different improvement projects over the last 7 years. Her most recent experience and interest include Human Factors, Systems safety and Resilience Engineering.

She is currently undertaking a Master Degree in Human Factors and System Safety in Lund university in Sweden. She earned a Master of Science in Clinical engineering from University of Montreal and earned her Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnique Montreal.

Nawal is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management by the American Hospital Association and certified Project Management Professional by the Project Management institute, USA . She is also Black belt lean six sigma trained by MoreSteam University.

Shabnam has over eight years of experience, acting for and advising a wide range of clients, as well as malpractice insurers on liability disputes and regulatory investigations, both in the UK and in the Middle-East.

Shabnam acts for several hospitals in the UAE and across the GCC, defending them and their medical practitioners, when they are faced with medical malpractice claims, as well as advising their Insurers.

Shabnam's experience includes conducting risk and compliance audits for hospitals and their insurers and advising hospitals on risk mitigation steps. Shabnam's recent work includes assisting hospitals when patient complaints are raised and regulatory investigations are commenced, as well as defending hospitals and doctors when litigation is commenced in the UAE or GCC courts.
