Dr Ismail graduated from the faculty of Medicine University of Tripoli in January 1990. He started his training in endocrinology in the main teaching endocrine unit in Tripoli in 1993 and completed his training in Endocrinology in St. Bartholomew’s Endocrine department and its associated hospitals in Northeast London, obtaining the certifications of the United Kingdom Postgraduate Medical Board. Dr Ismail is also certified by the Arab and the Libyan Boards of medical specialisation.

Dr Ismail was a lecturer in Endocrinology in Queen Mary School of Medicine and Dentistry in London and Consultant & Head of Endocrine department at Darent Valley hospital in Kent, UK before joining the Endocrine Department in Al Ain hospital in September 2014 and he is currently the head of the Endocrine department in Al Ain Hospital. Dr Ismail is the chairperson of the Mortality &Morbidity committee in Al Ain hospital.

Dr Ismail has been active in the field of Endocrinology for 24 years and his clinical interests include the use of Insulin pumps and new technologies in the treatment of diabetes, Endocrine hypertension, thyroid cancer and the disorders calcium metabolism. Dr Ismail is active in medical education and he is currently a core faculty member for the internal medicine residency programme in Al Ain hospital. He is also actively involved in clinical research and he was a site investigator for ADDRESS, JUMP and TITAN trials.

Hans Kerkkamp (1956) was trained as a Medical Doctor (1982) and specialized in anaesthesia and intensive care (1987) in the Netherlands. During his work as an anaesthesiologist he was an active member of the National Society of Anaesthesiologists (NVA) in The Netherlands. He was one of the founders and developer of a system for quality measurement in anaesthetic practice (minimal standards). As a chairman of the National Society of Anaesthesiologists (2000 – 2004) he was involved in a National program for quality measurement in Health Care by using KPI’s (2004) which was supported by the Ministry of Public Health. 

From 2002 to 2007 he was Professor in Anaesthesia at the University Medical Hospital in Utrecht (UMCU). Besides his clinical work he was involved in research, management and teaching. He introduced clinical pathways for major oncology treatment at the UMCU and showed by scientific studies the benefits of clinical pathways. 

In 2007 he was appointed as Chief Medical Officer of a teaching hospital in the Netherlands (> 1200 beds, 250 million Euro). He was responsible for clinical performance, training and teaching, quality and safety, innovation and research. He introduced many quality and safety systems such as clinical audits, dashboard for quality control, system for safe surgery (business redesign), lean management (productive ward), clinical pathways, etc. He also developed a program for patient engagement. One of his programs was the introduction of a system for care guaranties for patients.  In august 2014 he resigned as a board member. He started his own consultancy company and did many project national and international. Since January 2015 he is working at HMC as a deputy chief. His work is focussed on quality improvement and patient safety as well as innovation.
