Below are detailed directions on travelling once arriving in Germany.

Arriving by plane

City Airport Mannheim (about 15 km away)

Lufthansa Airport Bus:
The route between Heidelberg and Frankfurt Airport is operated by their cooperation partner
Traco Tours. Departures directly from Terminal 1 in front of arrivals hall B. Pre-booking is recommended. Stops at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Heidelberg. For time schedule, booking and fares, click here.

Tickets are sold by the bus driver and, until further notice, to be paid in cash.

 

Important Information:

In order to insure on-time service, please be at your scheduled Airport Shuttle bus stop at least 10 minutes before departure. If you are not at the bus stop at this time, your seat may be given to another passenger.

 

Transfer by train:

Deutsche Bahn: Trains depart for Heidelberg directly from the Fernbahnhof (long-distance train station) opposite Terminal 1, with a change of trains in Mannheim. Information: www.bahn.de

Baden-Airpark at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport (about 90 km away)
Transfer: The Baden Airpark Express Shuttle bus stops at the Heidelberg main railway station.

Stuttgart Airport (about 120 km away)
Transfer: With the S-Bahn direct to the Stuttgart main train station, which is part of the ICE, EC and IC network and connects to Heidelberg, journey time is about 50 minutes. Information: www.bahn.de

Frankfurt Hahn Airport (about 150 km away)
Transfer: The Hahn Express shuttle bus stops at Heidelberg’s main railway station.

By car:

 

The A5/A6 autobahns, with their interconnected exits and feeder highways, serve much of the greater Rhine-Neckar region. The A5/A656 autobahns have exits leading directly to Heidelberg.

 

From Frankfurt Airport City:  

  • Take the A5 towards Basel
  • Heidelberg is approximately 80 km from the Frankfurt Airport City
  • Take the A656 towards Heidelberg
  • Take the A656 through point 37 direction Heidelberg
  • A656 ends in Heidelberg, becomes B37
  • Turn right onto Vangerowstrasse /B37
  • Keep left at the fork to go on to B37
  • Follow B37 to the Kongresshaus Stadthalle

From Areas North or South of Heidelberg:

  • Take the A5 towards Heidelberg
  • Take the A656 towards Heidelberg
  • The A656 ends in Heidelberg
  • A656 ends in Heidelberg, becomes B37
  • Turn right onto Vangerowstrasse /B37
  • Keep left at the fork to go on to B37
  • Follow B37 to the Kongresshaus Stadthalle

From the Ramstein/Kaiserslautern Area:

  • Take the A6 (Autobahn) east towards Mannheim
  • Follow the A6 through Mannheim
  • Take the exit for A656 to Heidelberg
  • A656 ends in Heidelberg, becomes B37
  • Turn right onto Vangerowstrasse /B37
  • Keep left at the fork to go on to B37
  • Follow B37 to the Kongresshaus Stadthalle

By Train

Public transportation in the Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar
The S-Bahn (regional train) lines of the Rhine-Neckar public transport system offer highly convenient connections both in the region and to points beyond. Information: www.s-bahn-rheinneckar.de

On your arrival at the Heidelberg’s main railway station, the “Hauptbahnhof”, Bus number 41 or taxi connections ensure that you will reach the Convention Center (Kongresshaus Stadthalle) within 20 minutes. Buses run from 05:30 to 24:00 at regular 10 minute intervals.
