Dr. Abdulla Saeed Esmaeel S. J. AAl Ali

Dr. Abdulla is a Consultant Geriatrician in Zayed Military Hospital. He is also the Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, since 2014. He completed his undergraduate course from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) with MBBS degree in July 2002. He is American & Canadian board certified in Internal & Geriatric Medicine. 

His goal is to introduce the correct concept of Geriatric Medicine specialty to the different health care workers and stakeholders. He wants to improve the care of elderly population in UAE in order to keep them functioning in their community. He is also aiming to establish different services in the hospitals and community aiming to provide comprehensive care for UAE elderly. He is a member of outreach care steering committee which is one of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid initiatives..

 
Dr. Amir I.A. Ahmed, MD, Ph.D.

Dr. Amir I.A. Ahmed was graduated from the Russian State Medical University in Moscow, Russia in 1997, as well as from Leiden University, the Netherlands in 2004. Following his medical education, he trained in Geriatric Medicine from 2005 to 2010, and in Clinical Pharmacology from 2009 to 2011, both at the Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

Between 2010 and 2016, Dr. Amir worked as a Consultant Geriatrician / Clinical Chief of the Department of Psychogeriatric Medicine at the Vincent van Gogh Hospital in Venray, the Netherlands. There, he was also the president of the medical staff from 2013 to 2016. In 2011 he started his doctoral research, which has resulted in a PhD thesis entitled: Clinical Pharmacology of Oral Tetrahydrocannabinol in Older People with Dementia.

Dr. Amir is connected to the Department of Geriatric Medicine / Alzheimer’s Center and the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the Radboud University Medical Center as a researcher and associate professor. He is extensively involved in teaching and research activities. He authored several research papers in international journals including the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, Neurology, and Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. Moreover, he is a guest speaker at various training centres.

 
Dr. Farah Saeed Al Zaabi

Dr. Farah Saeed Al-Zaabi began her career  at Zayed Military hospital in 2006 as a consultant in Family Medicine & Chronic Pain Management after receiving her Canadian Certificate in Family Medicine. She has completed two fellowships, one in Chronic Pain and Addiction from the University of Toronto,and the second in Medical Education. In 2011, to improve her administrative and leadership skills, she earned her Executive Masters in Health Administration from Zayed University in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. She has been a significant figureat Zayed Military Hospital due to her eagerness to improve the UAE healthcare system, as well as enhancing the care provided by healthcare workers at all levels. In January 2010, she was appointed Medical Education Director at Zayed Military Hospital. Immediately she began instituting a variety of additional training, educational programs, and activities within the hospital.

 Currently, Dr. Farah is the Chronic Pain Clinic’s Team Leader with two anesthesiologists. She has instituted a multi-disciplinary team approach in the clinical treatment of chronic pain to provide a more effective outcome for patients.

 

 
Dr. Hanan Sheikh Ibrahim

Dr. Ibrahim is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, Ohio. She is the Academic lead for the Department of Medicine and a Consultant Physician at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Dr. Hanan serves as Quality Officer for the medical Subspecialty institute. She is American Board Certified Geriatrician and Internist and Board Certified Pulmonologist

She was trained at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio in the US under the tutelage of Dr. Robert Palmer, concept originator of the Acute Care of Elderly (ACE) unit, which is now an internationally recognized model of hospital care for geriatric patients. She is a pioneer in the field of geriatric care in the UAE, having implemented the first Mobile Acute Care of Elderly (MACE) program of its kind in the region.

Dr. Ibrahim completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US. She completed her Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. She received her MD from Damascus University, Syria.

 
Dr. Issam Khafaja

Dr. Issam is American Board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, graduated from University of Southern California, where he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine, and a fellowship in Geriatric medicine at Lakeside Medical institute in Los Angeles.

He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. He earned his great experience throughout his clinical and leadership positions in the fields of hospital, geriatric, and palliative medicine in different levels of care, working with large Health Maintenance Organizations and medical groups in southern California for the past 18 years.

Dr. Khafaja contributed some publications and papers in Geriatric medicine, and He is the author of Nursing Home California Model book, which was accredited by the US congress library and adopted by blue cross of California under senior advantage program. Currently he is a consultant at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in the medicine department.

 
Dr. Khaled Fares Al-Ali MBBS, FRCSC

Dr. Khaled Fares Al-Ali is one of the first Emirati neurosurgeon and the first Emirati North American board certified neurosurgeon. He specializes in pediatric neurosurgery and spine surgery. He has a busy clinical practice which includes management of advanced spine conditions, such as advanced cervical spine conditions, minimally invasive spine surgery, degenerative spine conditions, spine decompression and fusion surgery, spinal cord tumors, and brain tumors. He has comprehensive peripheral nerve clinic. Dr. Al-Ali has established www.spineandnerves.com group, an educational group for spine and peripheral nerves surgery. Dr. Al-Ali is interested in medical and surgical education, mentoring medical students and volunteering.
 
Dr. Khulood A. Muhiddin MD, FRCP, PhD

Dr. Khulood was graduated from the University of Baghdad/Iraq and has received all her post graduate training in the United Kingdom where she completed her PhD in Cardiac Clinical Pharmacology from the University of London and acquired the MRCP followed by the FRCP.
She has a vast experience in all aspects of Geriatric Medicine in the UK where she spent the last 20 years of her career there as a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine with special interest in Stroke and Cardiovascular Diseases in the Elderly including faints, falls and funny turns.
She had contributed to drawing the district wide Guidelines in Management of Stroke and implementing the National Stroke Strategy in Derbyshire/UK. She is an MRCP examiner in the Royal College of Physicians- London (both within the UK and internationally). She has a strong research background and was the lead consultant in her hospital and a member of the Board of the National Stroke Research Network/UK.
 
Dr. Pournamy Sarathchandran

She is presently working as Specialist Senior Registrar in Department of Neurology, Rashid Hospital, Dubai. She is also the Co-director of Neurology Residency Programme, Dubai Health Authority. She previously worked as Assistant Professor in Department of Neurology, Srichitra Thirunal Institute, India

She did her M.D. in General Medicine from JIPMER in 2009 and D.M. in Neurology from Srichitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology in 2012. She was endowed with gold medals for medicine and neurology during her residency.She has presented research papers and posters in various national and international conferences and has publications in international journals.

 
Dr. Salem A Beshyah MBBCh DIC PhD FRCP FACP FACE

Salem Beshyah qualified from the Medical School of Tripoli in 1981. He received his basic clinical training in Tripoli and Glasgow. After obtaining his Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians, he trained as a clinical registrar in Leicester Bedford (1987-1989) where he developed interest in practical management of diabetes and cultural issues in diabetes care. With this background he moved to London to do four-year clinical research fellowship in endocrinology at St Mary's and Imperial College London. In 1996, he was appointed as consultant physician in diabetes and endocrinology in Harlow, Essex UK where he provided diabetes and endocrine services for East Hertfordshire and West of Essex for 10 years. He moved to his current post in Abu Dhabi in 2006. His special interests include cultural aspects of medicine, education, and culturally-relevant research. He has very active in local and regional CME activities. He has 43 PubMed entries, 2578 citations on google scholar (h-index 27; i10 index of 36).

 
Dr. Salwa Abdulla Alsuwaidi

Dr. Salwa Alsuwaidi, a graduate of UAE University in 1997.  Started her career in Dubai Health Authority (DHA) since 1999 to specialize in Internal Medicine.  Currently holds MRCP (UK) and PhD Arab Board of Internal Medicine as well as a Post Graduate Diploma of Gerontology & Geriatrics from the University of Malta.   

She was the first Emirati Geriatrician in DHA and had a great role in establishing the first geriatric unit in Rashid Hospital in Dubai in 2007.  In addition, she was a pioneer in establishing the first Dubai rehabilitation centre for the elderly, taking care of all the responsibilities related to it as a Project Manager.    Currently she is the Director of the Family Gathering center; that is a nursing home for the inpatients, and a day care centre for the out patients. 

Dr. Salwa was a member of many committees at DHA and had chaired some of them.  Has excellent experience caring for elderly both at the acute hospital settings as well as at long stay facilities.  An active member; attended many courses and conferences, and was a speaker in many of them, and represented DHA in many international conferences. 

She had joined the Middle East Academy for the Medicine of Ageing (MEAMA) as a board member after completing 4 sessions in 2012.

Dr. Salwa was a winner of the Emirates Women Award in 2012 for the category of Financial & Strategic Planning.  She was a winner of Shamsa Bint Suhail Award for creative women in 2013.  She was shortlisted for the final stage of Dubai Government Excellency Program in 2014 for the category of Distinguished Female Employee.  Moreover, she received Medal Pride of UAE in 2014 as part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for Excellence in Government Performance. 

 
Dr. Syed A. Hussaini

Dr. Syed has more than 15 years of medical experience from New Jersey, USA before moving to UAE as Consultant Physician for Zayed Military Hospital. He is currently providing medical care as an Internist, Geriatrician and Hospitalist for the UAE Military and their families for all aspects of patient care under the In-patient, Out-Patient and Geriatric units. He is dedicated in defining and improving quality, evidence-based clinical guidance, and tireless advocacy for excellence in patient care. He is actively involved with teaching and training medical residents and interns as part of the core Internal Medicine Faculty.

 
Dr. Zaki Almallah MD

Dr Zaki is Consultant Urologist who joined Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in March 2017 from the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA where he was the director of prostate cancer survivorship program.

Dr Zaki Almallah obtained his MD from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK then moved to Birmingham, England, UK for higher surgical specialist training in Urology. In 2003, Dr Zaki, was appointed Consultant Urologist at the University Hospital of Birmingham, UK. In 2006, he founded the Birmingham Bladder Clinic. Dr Zaki, helped patients from all across the UK with patients travelled from further afield including Germany and Ireland to seek his advice and expertise.

Dr Zaki Almallah is one of the internationally experts in the treatment of patients with urinary problems following prostate cancer treatment. He has published widely with a long list of scientific studies and book chapters attached to his name. Dr Almallah has lectured regularly in the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) and the American Urological Association (AUA).

Dr Zaki Almallah’s has regular appearances on national television Channel 4 were he performed surgery and the US channel CBS and other media outlets.
