Dear Colleagues,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the “Discover the World of Geriatric Medicine” Abu Dhabi Geriatric Conference 2017. This is -to my knowledge- is the First conference to focus mainly on the core aspects of Geriatric Medicine specialty to be held in Abu Dhabi.

No doubt that elderly population is among the fastest growing age groups as the youngest “Baby Boomers” is 53 years old this years. This carries a challenge as there is no enough physicians who are specialized in geriatric medicine worldwide and in specifically in UAE. That is why delivering and teaching geriatric medicine concept and skills to non-geriatricians was considered as acceptable way to overcome this obstacle. So, in this conference we will try to introduce the correct concept of geriatric medicine through different lectures which will give the audience the approach to many of geriatric syndromes and problems which include spectrum of cognitive problems, mobility problems and falls, neuropsychiatric issues in elderly, several medical and surgical issue which are common in elderly…etc.

Nevertheless, we have to acknowledge the previous workshops and conferences related directly or indirectly to geriatric medicine held in UAE by other organizations which contributed significantly to elderly care and this will make our upcoming conference is other step adding to their work.

We are delighted in this conference to invite different well established keynote speakers who are an expert in their fields to deliver the conference lectures.

At the end I was privileged to serve this conference as chairman and I hope that you will find this conference stimulating, useful and enjoyable. Thank you all who added or will add to our upcoming scientific event as organizers, speakers and audience.
