Amal Saber

Amal has been a registered nurse since the year 1997. She studied her postgraduate studies in Pediatric and neonatal Nursing in 2004 from the University of Alexandra (Egypt). Amal has since been working as a neonatal nurse for the last 18 years.

Amal is presently working as a Clinical Resource Nurse at Corniche Hospital and is instrumental in the development of the unit based orientation programme. Amal has been a Neonatal Resuscitation Programme (NRP) instructor for 6 years.

Amal is passionate about patient safety and is focused on improving outcomes.

 

 
Anita Van Niekerk
Clinical Resource Nurse
Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC)

Anita van Niekerk is a Clinical Resource Nurse at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in a 36 bed Medical unit, 27 beds Oncology unit and 30 beds Long term non-ventilated area. She started at SKMC as Charge Nurse in Dec 2006 in Cardio-thoracic ICU, moved to General ICU in 2008 as Clinical Nurse Coordinator, and in 2010 she started in the medical unit as a Clinical Nurse Coordinator. In 2012 was promoted to Clinical Resource Nurse. She attained her Diploma in General Nursing in 1988, Diploma in Midwifery in 1992, Diploma in Psychiatry in 1993 and Diploma in Intensive Care Nursing in 1997 in South Africa. She completed her Master’s in Business Administration in June 2015.
 
Dr. Ahmed Al Adawy

Dr. AL-Adawy is Expert Quality and Patient safety Processes working at Dubai Healthcare Authority (DHA) Headquarter. He is responsible for overseeing DHA compliance with Dubai Government Excellency Performance Award (DGEP) with DHA facilities. In addition, he is coaching the deployment of patient safety culture among healthcare workers.

He  has been certified as quality professional from National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ). He is recognized as a quality resource person and strategic healthcare consultant in the Middle East. He has been selected as a speaker and facilitator in several conferences, workshops & seminars throughout the region. He commenced many missions under World Health Organization (WHO) to move quality and safety in the Middle East Countries.

 
Dr. Ibrahim Hatab
Chief Nursing Officer
Al Gharbia Hospitals

Ibrahim is currently working as Chief Nursing Officer in Gharbia Hospitals which consists of 6 hospitals and 4 clinics and covers Abu Dhabi western region with a population of about 300,000. Current number of Nurses is about 600.

He holds a  B.S. degree  and MPH  from American University of Beirut  and got PH.D  in Health care management in 2001. He has been in the nursing field for the past 30 + years

His international experiences includes King Faisal Saudi Arabia, St. Luke's' Roosevelt Hospital Center New York, Aramco Medical Centre, Saudi Arabia etc.     He has special interest in the area of Ethics, patient safety and quality.             

 
Dr. Ludmilla F. Wikkeling Scott
Assistant Professor, College of Natural and Health Science
Zayed University
Dr. Ludmilla F. Wikkeling Scott is currently an Assistant Professor in the College of Natural and Health Sciences (formerly known as the Department of Natural Science and Public Health) at Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, UAE. She also participates in accreditation activities for the Public Health and Nutrition Program, and plays and active role in the ongoing curriculum review and structuring of program- and course-learning outcomes. Her current research focuses on Health Literacy in Young Adults in the UAE, where chronic disease prevalence is increasing at alarming rates. Dr. Scott recently co-authored a study on tobacco use among female Emirates, in collaboration with the Public Health Research Center at NYU Abu Dhabi.

Dr. Scott’s areas of expertise are public health and policy development. She served as Health Legislative Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives and as Commissioner for the Governor of Maryland, focusing on access to care. After completion of her Doctor of Public Health, she joined her academic advisor at her Alma Mater to teach graduate public health students and provided internships through her consulting firm to guide students in research methods. As policy associate for the National Minority AIDS Council in Washington, D.C., she trained more than 100 community-based organizations in the areas of leadership, government relations and policy, program development, and communication. Dr. Scott led a program to evaluate mental health resources in Caribbean communities in the State of Maryland, served as Commissioner to the Governor of Maryland, and served as a reviewer for federal grant applications in the area of HIV and Substance Use. She has also led a telehealth pilot project in her home country of Suriname, funded by the Inter-American Development Bank, named Suriname Telehealth Exchange Project. She was honored to be assigned to the Senatorial and Presidential Campaigns of President Barack Obama, during her tenure on Capitol Hill.

Dr. Scott received a Bachelor of Science in Physiology from San Francisco State University, a Master of Public Health and a Doctor of Public Health from Morgan State University.
 
Elizabeth Kuruvilla

Elizabeth Kuruvilla was graduated from T.D Medical College India and served for five years .She was a mentor and educator in the surgical ward and thereafter came to UAE where she severed both in Private and SEHA hospitals (Mafraq) as ward in charge and preceptor. She is a reliable, ethical healthcare provider, facilitate groups and educational seminars and collaborate on multidisciplinary teams. Joined at AHS (Madinat Mohammed Bin Zayed Clinic) in 2012 as Acting In charge/Infection Control Link Nurse/Preceptor &Assessor and participated in CNE program approved by HAAD2014, supported JCIA as Chapter lead (IC) & steering committee member &tracer team member in the clinic-2015. Due to her interest in women health she took an active role in improving cancer screening service in primary care practice which was presented by SEHA Quality and Patient Safety Conference 2015 and initiated antenatal class in the clinic. She participated as one of the speakers at 4th SEHA International Conference 2015 at Abu Dhabi.

She attend Wollongong University Dubai Campus, UAE where she earned her Maters degree in Quality Management 2009, joined the patient safety in 2013, special interest in change management among healthcare practitioners and risk management , team development & supply chain

Laila Abdulrahman Mohamed

Layla Mohamed, RN, MS, CDE is a Registered Nurse with a Master’s Degree in Quality Management from Wollongong university ,and she’s a certified diabetes educator from Lund university in Sweden. Layla is also an insulin pump Trainer, and an expert in the field of Diabetes technology .Layla provides counseling to people living with Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational Diabetes, as well as developing diabetes prevention plans. She works in Mafraq hospital with in and out patients’ pediatrics and adults living with Diabetes Mellitus using the latest technology to help them achieve optimal blood glucose control and dramatically improve the quality of their lives.

Layla has been a key note speaker and a chair person at conferences, lectures at schools and corporations across the country .She has spoken on countless topics such as diabetes technology, diabetes, healthy eating and obesity, motivational and empowerment techniques, and has worked as a clinical resource in the field of diabetes to other healthcare professionals, community members, and corporate executives in other organizations.

Layla has coauthored different studies that have been done in the endocrine center in Mafraq hospital about quality transformational projects, children obesity and diabetes technology. 

 
Mervat Mansour

Mervat is a highly qualified, skilled, and innovative and result-oriented professional with more than 15 years of healthcare experience including 8 years at a leadership position overviewing quality and patient safety programs and leading improvement projects. In addition to extended experience at national and international levels in assessing organizational performance, she is expert in quality improvement, risk management, JCIA accreditation, strategic planning, and customer satisfaction at measurement, development and delivery levels.

She finished her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from the American University of Beirut and completed her Master’s Degree in Quality Management (with Distinction) from Wollongong University. She is expected to finish her Doctorate of Business Administration degree from Swiss Business School in 2018. Currently, she is working as the Director of Quality & Patient Safety at Al Zahra Hospital, Dubai.
