Registrations for the 2017 SA Recreation, Parks and Leisure Conference are now open.

The event, with its over-arching theme of ‘Transforming Challenges into Opportunities’, will feature three streams to capture the whole of the recreation, leisure and parks sector: Healthy, Active Communities, Business & Technology and Government & Planning. It will showcase innovative ideas and emerging trends and has a strong emphasis on discussions and workshops, sharing ideas and experiences, as well as networking.

Several high-quality speakers have been confirmed, making it a must-attend professional development event for 2017. Highlights will include:

John Buchanan: The former Australian Cricket Team Coach led the team to a World Record of 16 straight Test match wins and an unbeaten record of 24 one day international victories in two successful World Cups.  John is now a popular trainer and motivator working with international and Australian companies including BHP Billiton, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, KPMG and Telstra.

Jane Woodlands-Thompson: Adelaide Thunderbirds and ANZ Championship-winning coach and a recent appointment to the AFL’s Women’s Football Advisory Group, Jane embraces innovation and continually strives to inject creativity in search of best practice high performance programs.

Tyson Edwards: The former AFL champion and SANFL coach is widely regarded as one of the most consistent and durable players of all time.  And it’s this ability to perform consistently at the highest level that marks Tyson out as a true professional and inspirational speaker.

2017 Awards Breakfast: This event kick-starts the day and is held to recognise and celebrate individuals and organisations making an outstanding contribution to the recreation, parks and leisure industry in South Australia.

The program will also feature the official relaunch of the Trails SA website, as well as presentations addressing the challenges and opportunities arising from implementing The 30-Year-Plan for Greater Adelaide, activating Nature-based Tourism in South Australia and the National Active Recreation Working Group.

This event is SA’s leading professional development opportunity for managers and employees in the recreation and leisure sector, encompassing local government, aquatic, outdoor and community recreation, facility management and parks, gardens and open space.
