Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Anodizing niobium
  • Using painted on resists as an anodizing aid
  Using PnP Blue as an anodizing resist
  Making cold connections


Create unique jewelry when you cut, file, and sand niobium. You will learn four different resist techniques to develop patterns on your pieces that can be colored by bath anodizing. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Basic metalworking skills

Materials you are required to bring:

• Making horseshoe links
  • Making teardrop links

  • Assembling a chain



Learn how to make simple style chain links. Anodizing them and assemble them into stunning bracelets. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Basic knowledge of pliers & cutters

Technique: Anodizing, Assembly, Fold Forming, Metalwork, Niobium, Texturing, Wire Work

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Fold forming niobium without annealing
  • Anodizing
  • Embellishing with seed beads

Niobium sheet will be cut and folded so that a leaf shape can be cut out. Then the shape will be hammered to complete the fold forming. After unfolding the leaf it will be additionally textured, filed and anodized. To finish the earrings earwires will be constructed and they will be embellished with drop seed beads. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Ability to use basic hand tools

Materials you are required to bring: Round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, flush cutter, fine point marker

• Fold-forming
  • Anodizing niobium
  • Forging for texturing metal
 
 

You will discover the magical properties of niobium that allow fold-forming without annealing and creating vivid colors through anodizing. You will cut, file, line fold and texture your bracelet. Anodizing will allow you to color the cuff to your personal taste.You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Basic experience with metal working

Materials you are required to bring: All supplies will be brought by the instructor
