Level: Intermediate Description of Workshop Levels
Technique: Metalsmithing, Silversmithing, Soldering, Stamping, Stone Setting - Cabachon, Torchwork

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Silver soldering w/hard solders
  • Picking & setting cabochons
  • Different ring shank styles
  • Polishing

This class takes ring-making to a new level. We will look at different styles of ring shanks and multiple adornments for your cabochon. Learn different bezel techniques as well as cabochon setting. De-mystify silver soldering and pick up little tips that will make all the difference as you apply these techniques to your work. This class will boost your confidence in using a torch and creating beautiful rings you can be proud of. You WILL complete 2 rings in this class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Previous silver soldering experience is helpful

Materials you are required to bring: 2 - Cabochons (Instructor will have some for sale at time of class), bench block, files, straight edge, sharpie, rawhide mallet, scribe (awl), jeweler's saw w/#2/0 blades. Suggested but NOT Required: ring mandrel, texturing hammers, brass mallet, flex shaft w/felt & muslin buffs, stamps, burnisher (bezel pusher), ring finger gauge (sizer)

Level: Intermediate Description of Workshop Levels
Technique: Drilling, Flex Shaft, Forging, Gluing/Adhesive, Lapidary, Metalsmithing, Silversmithing, Soldering, Stone Setting - Cabachon, Torchwork

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Drilling stones
  • Making bezel cuts
  • Silver soldering

In this class you will learn how to drill a hole in a cabochon to allow you to set another stone on top of it. You will learn how to make cuts in your bezel with a cut-off wheel and how to solder small components without melting everything! We will go over setting small cabochons both calibrated and custom shapes. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Previous silver soldering experience will help but not required

Materials you are required to bring: Cabochon, files, bench pin, bench block, jeweler's saw w/#2/0 blades, rawhide mallet, scribe, diagonal cutters (flush cutters work best) 400 grit sand paper, texture hammer(s). OPTIONAL: Stamps, bezel burnisher, bezel rocker, brass brush

Level: Beginner Description of Workshop Levels
Technique: Metalsmithing

Fundamentals, skills, and techniques covered:
• Silver soldering
  • Measuring your wrist for proper fit
  • Several texturing methods
  • Forming bangles
  • Finishing

You've made the spinner ring, now take a step up and make a bangle to go with it! In this class you'll get a chance to have fun while making a couple of spinner bangles. We will focus on proper silver soldering technique to ensure a good joint, as well as several texturing techniques. We will also go over proper filing technique so you get better results for your efforts. You WILL complete this project in class.

Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Basic knowledge of jewelry tools

Materials you are required to bring: Files, Jeweler's saw w/#2/0 blades, Rawhide mallet, Texturing hammers, 320 or 400 grit sand paper, bench pin, diagonal flush cut pliers, ruler, Scribe (awl), bench block. Suggested but not required: round bracelet mandrel (stepped and/or tapered), brass brush, silver/copper wire for additional spinners, brass mallet, combination square (sliding T-square), stamps, cloth measuring tape
